Default sound system questions

ok so im about to start a new term @ skool and i have advanced woods... in the class we choose what ever project we want then go to home depot and buy what we need... so i bet you can tell from my post what im making... a custom sub box

so can anyone give me some links or your own advice on making a box (using just wood... im not gunna get into fiber glassing this time if i dont have to) for the back of the xb... if you give a link it dont needa be xb specific but it would be nice

i have 2 12 inch rockford P3's and the P800 amp and a 1 farad cap with the digital readout on top

the other question is if the stock alternator is going to be able to handle this xtra load and if not how much does a better alt go for?

thanks in advance for anyhelp givin

www.carstereo.com has alot of info
www.the12volt.com has some info
www.icixsound.com has some info....

look around for tutorials.....for your first box, I'd say stick with the sealed system....ported systems are comolicated and don't leave much room for error....

right...stay sealed. plus with sealed boxes it is a cleaner hit. with the farad cap your alternator should be cool.

alot of people say caps are a band-aid to a bigger problem, which is your alternator not being strong enough...I personally wouldn't worry about upgrading the alternator, I have 800 RMS going through my subs/speakers and don't get any dimming or anything...

I agree with the band-aid statement.
I am running right at 1000 watts RMS and only get a tiny amount of light dimming when I have it cranked up at full blast.
Sealed is the way to go for your first box, just make shure you seal it up real good.
