Default Speaker Wire...How to get it into doors....?

Hello!

I'm running some very fat KnuKonceptz cable to my new speakers, but I can't get them through to the door speakers. How can I do this on a Scion XA? Can I remove the little plug that snakes to the door and relocate? Or should I drill and use rummber grommets?

Thanks in advance for the help, folks...

On the xB, you can reach thru the speaker hole in the door and pop the the door end of the rubber conduit out.

Once one end is out, straighten it out some. Its easier to snake the "puller" in that way. Be careful so that you don't snag an extra wire going in or out! A fubar here could be expensive.

Once the wire is pulled thru, bend and reinstall the one end.

G/L!

I got it!

The wire I used for the speakers is SOOO thick. I really didn't realize I was getting wire like that...It barely fit! But I used WD-40 to lubricate the jacket of the speaker wire so it could eventually snake through. the fronts were a big pain. It's so stupid. Correction: I'm so stupid. It took me about an hour PER DOOR. Yeah, I know, you can totally laugh at me, since I'm laughing, too. I'm the WD-40 champ, though.

I had all the wires laid through the car, some going through the headliner to avoid hanging out with the power cable: you know, everything according to what people say you're supposed to do. I'm pretty cool right? So then I discover...I can only get these wires in the doors the reverse way, going through the door to the cabin of the car...but I'm already wired up. I solved the problem after some deep contemplation.

I snaked and extra wire through the door to the cabin, which again took damn near an hour and a lot of WD-40. After finally getting it in, I attached the two ends of the wire with duct tape, lubed up, and pulled the assembled wires bak through the cabin to the door. I then detached the tape and voila! It worked!

I have to go nurse my poor hands now. Commence mockery.

Pulling the wire through was the hardest part of my door speaker install. I even mentioned it in my DIY! WD-40 is the way:

An hour per door?? It only took me...maybe...uh...about the same. OK, maybe an hour for both, but what a PITA!

What wires are going through your headliner?!?

I've got my right side door speaker wires going through the headliner, as my amp will be in the back, on top of the spare tire. It was the only logical way I could think of to avoid the speaker wires running parallel to the power wires.

I really need baffles so I can get this job done. I haven't had music in the egg in about a week...

WD 40 tends to break down anything it touches... it's not really a true lubricant.
try to avoid using wd on any rubber compounds...

Using it in small spurts like the door grommet doesn't hurt much but using white lithium or a similar grease would be more ideal, wd 40 usually gets the job done though...

They will always be running parallel to the power wire, ok i know what you meant I was just giving you a hard time =D,

you shouldn't get noise if you run the power on the drivers side, and rca and speaker wires along the passenger side...

No sprayee WD-40 in the grommet!

I sprayed on a rag and wiped a thin coat on the speaker wire jacket. Thats all it took.

I used White Lithium spray grease... went through like a champ... took about 5 minutes to get both wires through either door jamb grommet

yeah, did mine...took like an hour per door and cut my hands to hell, but I didnt unsnap the rubber tube either, just left it in place...hardest part of the whole install...then guess what...I had to rethink my wiring and ended up pulling it out and doing it over.....bleh....glad thats done!

Good job, but I personally would leave the stock wiring for the doors in if it is this much trouble. I don't think you could hear the difference in the gauge of wire.

I think you may if your speaker wires cross the power wires, as mine do on the drivers side

perhaps.. :D

I won't argue with you, you did a good job and you're happy, That's all that matters.

Not so much for hearing the difference as much as not cutting/splicing/fubaring your stock wiring harness in case you want to remove the system later and return it to stock for sale or trade.

Of course, if you're going add your own wire, better to go 16ga or bigger.
