Default speedometer

my gas gauge is having some issues, as well my tach. as for my tach it will move like normal then all of a sudden it will get stuck and just drop back down to where is wont work then suddenly start working again. then for the gas gauge i wont move at all when i fill up with a full tank of gas. i put a new pump in and still same thing for gas. dealer says it has to do within the gauge. has anyone else had this problem. and also does the computer keep the total milage on it to correct if i get a new gauge or not. i didnt not know.
thanks

The mileage is stored on the gauge itself not the ECU. How's your alternator? Freaky things happen when it's not working 100% just a thought.

Your cheapest route (if it is a bad cluster) will be going on eBay or a local junk yard and find a cluster with around the same mileage as you and swap it. The dealership is gonna rape you.

Swapping the cluster is nothing, 3 screws and a couple of connectors, I can do it in under 5 mins, literally.

Does it make a clicking sound when open the door and put the key in? I had a similar problem like yours where my tach and gas guage didn't work and it made a bunch of clicking sounds when I opened the door and put the key in. I ended up swapping the motors on the gauge, with another cluster, and everything is fine and dandy now.

I had the same problem on my 04 xa. I couldn't figure it out. All the needles would twitch, and then the speedometer wouldn't work. I took it out, opened the clear plastic, moved the needle with my hand, and when i put it back together it started working again. I guess the motors have problems.
