Default Steering wheel install...

Looking to get a walk through on how to install one of the Scion leather steering wheels.I saw one a t the deadlers yesterday, and realized just how nice it is ,you dont realize it until you see it in person.Just wondering if its something I could do or with the airbag involved I should have my mechanic do it? If anyone has a used one or just one up for sale let me know-

Couple things ...

1) your in the right area. I know that here in the NorthEast at our Scion events Scion loves to hand those things out, and no one really wants them. If you can wait a month or 2 you may be able to get one free, or at least dirt cheap.

2) Install isnt that hard. There are 2 Torx head bolts on the back side of the steering wheel. Back those out. They shouldnt come out, as they are held in place by the plastic air bag cover. Now your airbag will pull out towards you. There are 2 wires that run from the back of the air bag to the center hub on the steering wheel. In the center of both the red and black wires you will see a yellow square. You need to pull that little yellow square out just enough to release the red/black holding clip to the center assembly on the steering wheel. Thats it. Oh, i believe there is a ground for the horn as well, that will have to be dissconnected. Then its time to tackle the steering wheel nut. Back that off and see if your steering wheel will slide off. If not, then you will need to get your hands on a steering wheel remover. This looks a lot like a harmonic ballance puller and works by attaching to the steering wheel, then with a rachet you pull the steering wheel off. Install is the reverse, minus the steering wheel puller. lol

Couple things.
A) Dissconnect your battery so the bag cant go off in your face.
b) Make sure your front wheels are straight so you dont have the new steering wheel off center. Its just that easy.

It takes longer than 10 minutes. I have the grey/black one and agree that it's an excellent upgrade.
