alright fellas,

tommorow i will recieve my much awaited MOMO EVO steering wheel for the xB. does anyone have any experience either first hand or from helping a freind out when installing a steering wheel? is there any good advice to be had to that i dont end up bashing my head through the window within the first couple minutes. :D

i was looking at the steering column and i saw some phillips head screws that could be taken out. is this where i start to install the steering wheel?

excuse me sir, but that thread said nothing about the way in which to take the steering wheel off. it simply implied what was needed to put the steering wheel on. so before you go on ranting about use the search button, read the thread bro! i was asking if anyone knew of how-to take the steering wheel off and where to start. not what parts are needed to put it on.

thanks for your generosity. :D

Wish I could help you. I'd bet it will be a challenge since you will have to disconnect/discard the airbag. A mistake, IMO.

Be patient, I'm sure someone here has switched the steering wheel out with something aftermarket. maybe re-title the thread to something like "Have you changed your steering wheel?" or something to that effect.

IDK, but best of luck.

Before u start make sure u have a hub adapter and the front wheels are straight. I purchased my in Japan, with a MoMo wheel. First disconnect the battery. On the back of the stock steering wheel there are two bolts, requires torx type tool/allenwrench. Mine came with my hub adapter. The horn/airbag should come of after lossening those bolts. Disconnect the two wires that are connected to the air bag/horn. Pull up on the plastic tabs to remove the wires. Now u have to loosen the bolt which attaches the steering wheel to the steering column. Instructions states to use a steering wheel puller to remove wheel after the bolt is removed. I just tapped the wheel with a rubber mallet. After u remove the wheel, ensure u don't move anything on the steering column so ur wheel/hub adapter is installed in the same position as the stock one. FYI, my airbag light stayed on at all times.

Lets stress this ONE MORE TIME! Disconnect the battery! You do NOT want that airbag going off when you f*ck something up.

GL!

sorry for the misunderstanding

and most airbag systems are disabled with the key out
you do not have to disonnect the battery
just be careful what touches the terminals on the airbag
try to store it in an anti-static bag (computer parts)
if yo are gonna keep it
