Okay so simple question. How do I get those two colored pieces off my steering wheel? I have an 04 xA so there's no audio controls. Do they just pop off like most of the other pieces? I'm afraid to pry at them and have them snap on me. I want ot take them off so I can paint them a different color.

 

be sure the air bag doesn't deploy in your face.

 

the air bag wont go off but you will brake the tabs on the back, i did the same thing because they put them thru there and then melt the little plastic rod ends, kinda looks like a rivet

 

once you take off the positive bat cable, you can remove the airbag/ horn assembly... once off, then you can remove the 2 trim peices by cutting the back off ( melted portion ) or drill them semi out, the trim peices will pop out then.. you can paint them, etc, and glue or epoxy them back on.. or you can tape around them while on the airbag / horn assembly, and prime / paint them in place... depending on what you wanna do removal is not really needed in most cases.. if you are moving to steering wheel controlls, the trim peices are smaller then the newer style with the controlls built in.

 

Naw not trying to move to steering wheel controls I'm just planning my interior mods. Wanted to paint them to match the rest of the interior pieces. I'll prolly end up doing the tape off thing. The same thing go for the two upper air vents on the 04 xA?
