I tend to agree. The stock unit is quite good for this Olde Farte. It plays my '70s oldies, my daughter's Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong, and my wife's bluegrass albums with equal clarity.

Of course, we aren't into entertaining the people two lanes over...

yah, i noticed when i first got mine, that it was kinda weak sounding. So first mod i ever did was to get a sub and a mono amp, and that was all i needed. I have the bass set at 0 so the mids & highs are clear, and don't distort, and the Treble on 5 for the highs. Then i just turned up the gain on the sub till it blended in and voila. awesome sound system. i leave the ssp on xb and HEAR. the feel setting is definately way too much.

Default stock head unit /speakers

I just picked up my Hot Lava # 1886 4 days ago >first mod i did was replace my front speakers.
now! what i found out is that the audio stores do not have the correct info on speaker sizes at all !!!
was told that front and rear speakers are 6 1/2" ,front tweeter in dash 1 1/2". WRONG !!!!
the frond door set is 6 1/2 oversized or 6 3/4 ".
to ues either one of these you need to purchase an adapter ring (metra # 82-8141)
and a spacer ( thickness depends on your speaker depth) . even if you use shallow depth speakers you still need adapter ring.stock speakers are riveted in. must drill them out.relax and take your time doing it.it can get frustrating because the rivets spin while trying to drill them. use a sharp bit ,3/8s works fine.
the front tweeters are 3" and can be replaced with either 3" or 3 1/2" speakers.
the rear size is 5 1/4". lots of depth ! you can fit an 61/2" speaker .depends on the manufactuer and how the basket is made. i hope i haven't bored anyone with this.just want all xB er's to know the facts if they decide to upgrade on thiere own.
nothing wrong with factory speakers, just like 3 ways. I'll be building an custom sub and amp enclouser soon. let you know how it turns out .

xB ya later, george

If I add an amp to the factory speakers can I attach all six speakers? If not, what speakers would you suggest I hook to it?

I will also be putting a goodamp in to power my 2 12's.

Sorry this is a newbie question, but I needto know.

THanks in advance

I find that hard to believe.

It's not clear sound you're hearing, its tingy and distorted music... which for what ever reason, some people like?

You don't need to put up the treble to mimmick having tweeters, you already HAVE tweeters!

As for the bass, there is none lol. Get a small subwoofer or something.

What a great tip!!! I've only had my 05 xA for three days but the audio was weak, flat, low in volume, and poorly distributed between the speakers. After using your "hidden setting" I discovered it was set to tC!

The difference between tC and xA or xB is huge. You don't want to have your Scion factory audio set to tC, unless you have a tC.

I was not expecting too much from the default Pioneer unit and speakers, and I usually prefer flat settings, but Pioneer & Scion have obviously configured the defaults to compensate for each vehicle's unique acoustics.
