Default Stock stereo RCA preouts?

Yo, whats up scion life? Me and a friend are going to install an amp and subs in the xB today. I just needed to know if the stock 1 disk deck has RCA preouts for the subs. If so is it one or two preouts? I read the stereo owners manual but it did'nt say anything about it. Also, if someone knows the color of the remote (turn on) wire from the deck that would help to (I heard its solid blue). Thanks, later! :D

SEARCH!!!!!

no, there aren't pre-outs......use an amp with Hi-Level inputs or a line output converter (JL Cleansweep, AudioControl, etc.)

for remote, I'd just find an ignition source in the fuse panel.

I did search and gave me all kinds of posts other than what I was looking for. And after about 1/2 hour of wasting my time searching and checking tech articles I decided to just ask. Only took 5 min. this way . Thanks. Later! :D

to search correctly, click on the red search button instead of typing in the box that says "type your search here"....also, make sure to check "search for all terms"

This is so key. I wonder if the "type search here" box could default to this type of search?

There is an adapter that you can get on EBay that gives you
the RCA outs and the blue remote on for your amp. I picked
one up with a full amp install kit and RCA cable for like $50

It's very well made, and simply snaps in between the wire
harness and the head unit.

Raven, I don't think those adapters will give you the SQ that a GOOD converter or Hi-Level inputs will.....I haven't tried one personally, so I don't know first hand. I do know that the JL Audio Cleansweep (and equivalent converters) give you SQ as good as an aftermarket HU......

Everything is already installed. Thanks anyways for all the input. The system does'nt sound to bad for a stock head unit!! I'm pushing 3 12" JL audio subs with a 1 channel alpine amp that I picked up from a friend for only $400. No ones gonna believe that it's just the stock radio! Thanks again, later! :D

Line level is ALWAYS better then Hi-Level, so I doubt even the highest quality
Hi-Level will sound as good as using the RCA outs that are ALREADY on the head
unit! This kit just gives you a place to plug them in!

HI-Level will sound 10x better than the cheapy line level converters that you get from wal-mart or wherever......but hi-lev won't sound as good as a JL Audio Cleansweep converter or Audiocontrol LS6 converter....that's what I'm saying....

I agree, but these are line level converters, the line level out
IS BUILT INTO our head units, Scion just didn't opt to have
them on the back of the head units! This kit just gives you
the pair of RCA that are already built into the head unit!

I see what you're saying.......so in reality, the converters that are cheap store bought are the worst option. I'd still have to call the JL cleansweep and equivalent the best option, and the harness adapters just under the high end(quality) converters...

Nah, you are MISSING my point COMPLETELY.

The harness is NOT CONVERTING ANYTHING!
The RCA outs are built into the stock head unit, but for some
reason SCION chose to not include them (probably to
push us to get the Bazooka from them rather then just go
aftermarket).

This kit simply gives you two RCA plugs that Scion intentionally
left off the back of the head unit, but exist internally.
Is it NOT a converter of any sort!

ahhhhhh.....I now see...did you talk to the people at Scion about that?? just doesn't seem right......speaker leads are hi-level outputs......unless the harness is tapping into something not used for the regular speakers.....like the factory subwoofer, which would most likely use line level(RCA) to get signal, which would explain the logic behind actually having RCA's available but at the same time not accessible without a harness....

now the reason for buying an aftermarket unit is to achieve NF sub output and sub control.......

I got the rca adapter on eBay as well (since my amp has RCA inputs) & the sound is intense, gotta do some fine tuning but my tc is at the dealership gettin a 6 disc installed and springs put on... They did give me a brand new camry as a loner and man do I miss having trunk space like that...you could fit like 3 bodies in there.

Raven or bump, do you have any links, pictures or information about those adapters? (If you have a link to the completed auction from when the adapter was bought, that would be great!) I searched eBay and did a Google search and I cannot find anyone who sells those... all I can find are the standard Toyota harnesses.
