Default Stooopid Gas man!

Ok, so my check engine light came on last night. After a momentary heart palpatation, I decided to pull over and verify it WAS the check engine light...

And then read the thing about the gas cap. Sure enough, it wasn't fully tightened... The guy (in jersey where you don't pump your own) apparently didn't tighten it all the way...

So the manual says it will go off in "several" driving trips... How long is "several???"

I think I will try the ECU thing I've read about on here, as soon as it stops raining.

Crossing my fingers it really IS the gas cap and I didn't eff anything up installing my GPS... Though I don't see what I could have done as I didn't cut or splice any wires...

Could be that or that you need a check up. The dealership should turn it off if its nothing for free.

Most time they go off after several starts and trips. Several being wait a week.

Well the dealership DID just send me a reminder about my 30k service... It doesn't come on in a similar fashion to the maint required light does it per chance?

the maint. req'd light is just a mileage counter to remind you to change your oil... easily reset.

also.. the CEL because of the gas cap... ehh.. pull the battery.. wait a few minutes.. hook it back up... you should be good.

Default "Can I clean your windshield, SIR?"

This New Jersey law is now a problem.
It was great when a polite, uniformed, attendant asked you if you wanted your windshield cleaned or the air in your spare tire checked.

Last quarter the big oil companies only made 12-15 BILLION in profits, so they can only afford to pay illegal aliens who do not speak or read English to man the pumps. Most of them do not know how to pump gas without doing damage to paint or ECU.

You’re lucky they didn't fill you up with water!

Stand there and watch them closely. They may be required to pump your gas but you can open and close the gas cap.
Listen for the distinctive CLICKS to know that the cap is on tight.
