Default My sub

I'm throwing a 15" Respl HC which needs a 2.4 cubic foot box and running it with a Hifonics 1500bxd

That poor sub is going to be crying for more box volume, I wouldn't go with anything less than 4.5cu/ft vented with about 50 - 100 sq/in of vent... tuned to about 35hz... if you like deeper bass... 30hz

Please, don't subject a driver that powerful to a medeocre enclosure!!! Definately don't go sealed!!!

I currently run an HC18 in my Grand Cherokee, and I love it. Won several trophies... 152+ db at the dash, on a 2003 AudioControl mic.. tuned for daily driving (30hz) with 76sq/in of port... and it wants FAR more than my Jeep can provide. It's just over 6cu/ft right now... and I was told by Dave @ RE to go with 12cu/ft... Awesome subs, best i've used.

They love power!

i got a 12'' in a tube it doesnt take up much space but if i do need some i just stand it up in the corner,i used to have an inclosed box but it took up to much room and once i switched to a tube the bass improved dramaticaly,i run a 600 watt kenwood amp with a sony xplod woofer, with my windows up i could still rattle the windows in my house from my driveway.

Denny-

I saw your car at El Toro, setup looks sick as hell, but curious as to why you didnt use better subs, like BMF's or Xt's? Just curious. Steup looked kickass though, where did you get all the work done at?

Thanks….

Well a couple of reasons why I didn’t go with BMF’s or XT2’s.

1)We are releasing our revamped BMF subwoofer at the end of March that is sick as hell, but we needed the car to be ready for the CES show.
2)The XT2 subs are best in a ported enclosure that requires like 4 cu.ft.+ to make it perform at its optimum. I just didn’t want to go that route YET.

Instead I opt for something that caters more to sound quality and that’s 8’s with a 3-way set up for the front. I don’t listen to hip-hop or rap, just rock and punk, and that type of music is punchy and tight. That’s the reason behind the 8’s. Plus in pictures they look more like 10’s then 8’s.

Installation was done by myself and my product manager in the latter part of the build up.. Gary from Nish Designs took care of the interior paint work... Here is a link to some of the build up pics.

SO can anyone tell us the dimensions of the back area, to know how big of a box could fit back there?

What kind of sound dampening is required for that particular setup? Dynamatt Brown Bread or something?

Xtreme Dynamat was used throughout the car, if you are questioning about my car.

Hatch of course was a huge issue, but access to the spots are limited. I did the whole roof, all the doors and the floorboard.. Basically i used up 1 bulk box (32 sq.ft) 2 door kits and a few additional 18"x32" inch sheets. The doors were dynamatted on the inner and outer skin of the door.
