Default Subwoofer and/or enclosure recommendations!!!

I already have the system upgraded in my car with compoents everywhere. My highs and mids are off the charts. I wanted to know of places and/or internet sites that do custom subwoofer enclosures. I want a fiberglass enclosure that fits tightly behind the back seats and allows me to still have plenty of cargo space. I thought about the Bazooka sub, but I only heard bad things about the brand. My last car had 2 10's under a 1200 watt amp and that was entirely too loud (I would vibrate the neighbors house windows). I am currently thinking of either 1 10" or 2 8", but I really want to have a custom fiberglass enclosure made that will deliver great tight bass, looks awesome, but not extremely loud. I am going for the Bose experience.

1) Are the Bazooka subs decent?
2) Names of places or sites that do custom enclosures
3) Price is not an issue

Thanks.

check out your local audio shop tell them what you want and they should be able to accomplish it.

1200w RMS or total? I have a 1200w total amp and planning to get 2 300w subs, I hope it's not going to be that intense...SIKE

why would you use a 1200w amp to power 2 300w subs? your gonna blow your subs man.... over powering them

1200 watts to 2 300watt subs is WAYYY too much power for them little guys... unless your talking 300rms? then you should be very nice. For a box I'd recommend getting a ported box over a sealed box, especially if you don't want it too intense.. The right sized ported box will allow for more air movement and give you a cleaner sound. A sealed box will give you a deeper intensity but is more distorted than a ported box.... Its basically your preference.... But either way a 1200 watt amp will cause damage to a sub that is being over powered... if your gonna use that amp then get the subs to match, otherwise you're gonna have problems with your subs down the line.... besides... you have control over the bass anyways... if it's too loud for you, turn it down.

Depends on how you look at it... you figure you only play your deck at half volume... so your only using half the amp.... so 600... subs = 600

I don't understand how a system can be "too loud". It is only as loud as you turn it up. If you don't want it loud, turn the gains down on your amps. Also, typically sealed enclosures give tighter, less boomy bass than your average ported enclosure unless you have it tuned perfectly. A sealed box should not have distorted sound unless you f$%* something up. They require more power to achieve the same volume as ported boxes though. For a good balance between SPL and SQ, I don't think you can go wrong with 2 efficient 10" subs in the tC. You can even save some of what little cargo room is in there.

That looks nice. What type of box is it? My only complaints are that it takes up most of the trunk, I bet it delivers way too much bass, and it overtakes the mids and highs. Other than that I like the setup.

I doubt that it's hitting that hard, the Alpine Type-E's don't deliver out too much intensity and only peak at 200rms so that might be a setup that you'd be looking for... Those subs definately will not overtake your mids and highs, but they'll give you the nice deep bass tone. And since his box is ported, it makes the tone clean and crisp. As far as trunk space goes.... For 12" subs, they're not taking up alot of room. He can still have the enclosure almost underneath his back panel, so he has a little space to work with lol If you are looking to save trunk space, Id suggest a low powered sub and custom enclosure like the bazooka.. Two bass tubes running along the side will fufill your purpose too....?

I meant the amp is 1200 watts total, 600 watts RMS bridged or in my setup, 300 watts RMS x 2

The power the subs are getting is also dependent upon the resistance.... I don't know the resistance on your subs, but if you have two 4 ohm subs wired in parallel then the resistance is 2 ohms. Two 2 ohm subs, then the resistance is 1 ohm. If they have dual voice coils, then the whole thing changes. You really need to know the exact resistance you are dealing with to properly set up the system. You can burn out your amp if the resistance on your subs goes too low... because most amps are NOT stable at 1 ohm or less.

I can't help you with a place that does enclosures. From your initial description of what you want I think 2 8" subs with a decent amp that closely matches the power handling of the subs will be just what you are looking for. The 8"s are small and require very little air space so even if you didn't get a fiberglass box a regular MDF one wouldn't take up that much space.

I also recommend sticking with a sealed box. It will extend the range to a lower frequency, play cleaner, and is easier to make. The only benefit of a ported box is higher SPL which you are not looking for.

lol. I have my audiobahn a2300hct amp. Stable at 1ohm, 2400rms, 1200rms x 2. Just gotta find some subs with the ***** to stand up to the power. I had audiobahn subs that were supposed to handle 1500w rms and they didn't. Cuz audiobahn subs suck and have glued cones, it overheated and seperated, and this time I think I will go with Image Dynamics, at least they have stitched cones and are supposed to handle a lot of watts.
