Default sun visor/mirror ideas??

so my girlfriend is getting a 2004 xb tomorrow. we test drove it earlier nd it seems to be an awesome car. however, one of the first things she does is pull down the visor on the driver side and see the tiny mirror with no lights. GIRLS need their mirrors obviously lol

anyways i have been racking my brain trying to figure out a way to add a nice sized mirror with lights to it without using a clip on. i want it to look like it could have came with it. i have searched with no luck and thought of several ideas but not really sure how i should go about doing it.

i thought of making a fiberglass cover that would slip over the factory visor and have the mirror molded into it. but that seams like a more complex way of doing it. im sure there is some simple way to do it and make it look and function nicely, if anyone has any ideas please share and if you have done it pictures are always great. sorry i wrote an essay here lol

I had the same concerns about the mirror. I got braces so I need to make sure food isn't stuck. Rather than spend alot of time and money, I just bought a clip on style mirror that is designed for visors without mirrors. Easy, cheap and done.

im sure i can do it myself. im thinking about making a trip to the junkyard to see if i can find some nice mirrors with lights. ill just have to figure out how to attach them to the xb visors then recovering should be the easy part. but if get them and think i cant do it or fail at attempting it ill take it to the upholstery shop. maybe it wont be too costly

well you could go and talk to them and see what their suggestions are, what the best inexpensive method would be to getting a bigger mirror in there

I got the cheap clip on mirrors that are bigger when I had my visors in.

Now with the Wink rearview mirror, I have 5 huge mirrors that I can look at myself in, if I wanted to lol.

if you find the style you want in the junk yard, just pull the rod out of the stock one and slide it into the new one. in most cases it will be the same diameter and will work. Or to be sure, pull the stock visor rod out of one visor, and do test fits while you are in the scrap yard. It should work. Then as said, tap into your power wire for your dome light before it goes into the unit and then attach a ground wire anywhere on the steel roof panel. Even the visor screw would work.

being a man with no need to look at myself as i drive or sit at a stop light, i don't mind not having a lighted mirror. But my wife had a problem with it when i got my 2006 Xb. Then she purchased a 2010 Nissan Rouge and it doesn't even have mirrors in the visors. NOTHING at all so she went and got a lighted clip on at walmart for like 7 bucks fixed her problem. If you don't just want a fix and you want a lighted mirror that looks stock, I think your on the right track at the junk yards. Good luck and when you get one installed put up some pics as well as what car you got it from it might be a good upgrade for others.

Anybody know that you can use the existing sunvisor hole to mount the wink mirrors for the xb1? I hate my sunvisor, I want to get rid of it. I'm looking at the 35 inch wink mirror. I don't really want to drill additional holes or mount them to the glass.
