trying to install xm
i have the stock 06 unit, and don't want to use the fm transmitter, what cable do I need to plug it in?
-i'd like cheap if possible.

I installed a Terk XMDTLK into my '06 box. I think I found it for less than this, but you can get it for $166 here: http://techronics.com/index.cfm?fuse...5630&aff=72182
Note that this is a full-blown XM receiver that hides within the dash and is controlled via the factory stereo controls, not just an adapter cable for an ugly external XM receiver.
Works fine. Controls are just like factory. The text displayed is shorter than the LCD display, which is annoying and probably doesn't happen with the factory unit. I'll take the money in pocket instead, though.
The antenna is magnetic. I mounted mine just ahead of the hatch in the middle of the back edge of the roof. A lot of the interior had to come loose to run that cable well. There is a little bit of wire visible between the hatch and the roof.
The cables will connect cleanly to the back of the radio. However, I got a bit picky in mounting the two electronics boxes and ended up taking the top off the dash. There are two existing electronic boxes mounted on sheet metal brackets there. I tie wrapped the two new boxes to those, no rattles and everything is out of the way.
A number of stores are listing this device as discontinued, but there are still a few online vendors selling them.

neither of those will work for the stock unit. Those pieces are for xm ready aftermarket pioneer units. What you probably would want to get is a wired Fm modulator.

the xm antenna wire plugs into the fm modulator then the antenna from the modulator plugs into the xm receiver. Also you unplug the antenna out of your radio and plug it into the modulator and then plug the antenna end out of the modulator into your radio. Then you tune the radio to the frequency that the xm in broadcasting at. As for the power adaptor it is so you can have the cig lighter plug plug in behind the dash and not into the cars cig lighter.
