Default under seat question ?????

i took my back seats out today to look at some possible new mods and i noticed theres two bracketsone on each side of the car that serve no purpose that i can tell does any one know what theses are?

its possible that in japan, they mounted differ seats in the back.

i will have to get some pics of what i am talkin about i look at a friends xa today and his is the same way but he has a flat bar that runs from one side to the other its almost like a mini strut bar for under the seat

im sure it serves a purpose, why else would they just put to bars in there, but why would you take them out
