is that because our intakes are plastic?
how do you over do it?

do you know what about remote starting is more harmfull than normal(key) starting?

the only way i can see anything happening is if the tach sensor does not work, and it keeps cranking.

It's no diffrent than starting it with the key. I won't have one though because we drive stick shifts and I always park in gear.

The remote start is only as good as the installer... I would stick to bigger name brands when it comes to remote start products though...

To get it running right you'll have to put about 15 grand into it or more...if we have to overnight parts from Japan.

I live my life one remote start at a time. :D

Yes, sticking to name brand stuff is a good idea, BUT that doesn't mean Joe Dip____ installer is going to do it right.

Yeah it damages your car, when you go to Hack and Cut Car Audio and Alarm, and they install the brain form one brand and the remote start module from that brand and it takes them ten hours to do a toyota.

I think maybe someone said it's bad because people are more likely to press the start button and let it idle for ever. Idling is bad for a car because typically the oil pressure is low and the cooling system is meant to work when there's movement of air through the radiator. So, if the auto start doesn't have a auto-off time-out thing and you start the car then the phone rings, then your kid takes off his diaper and wipes it on your table, then you remember that you have to do the dishes and forget your car is running.. that could be bad. (I in no way mean to imply that the scions have inadequate oil pressure or cooling systems).

Another way it could be bad is it if's installed on a std car without a in-gear lock-out Herby the Love Box.

Yup, what he said. . .

Even if your engine is cold, it's not a good idea to let it idle forever. You want to get all the fluids moving, and that doesn't happen(even in the engine) at idle. Also if you've warmed your engine and drive off, your tranny is still cold! So the best idea is to allow a short warm up(maybe a minute at the most), and then drive off nice and easy, keeping revs low and the speed not too high. Once everything has warmed up, then everything should be cool.

From what I hear, people with remote start tend to start their cars and leave them running for excessive periods of time. . . not good.

I have NEVER seen a remote start system that doesn't have auto-shut-off capabilities.

Yes, but what was the shutoff time interval? 15 minutes? That's a long time to be idling for naught...
