Default Weird...

So I put in my new GPS this weekend... (pics soon)

Installed the GPS and a PIE Aux input converter so it can play through the stereo...

Everything works fine, but I noticed that now, when I turn off the car the radio seems to lag behind for a second or so before it shuts off.

I'm not sure what's causing this or if I should be worried...

I used a mini add a circuit... not sure if that could somehow cause this???

hmmm, I guessing this is a stock radio?

Also, when you say *lag* ... do you still get audio output from the radio or is it just "lights on, nobody's home"

Post them pics!

Yes, stock 05 head unit. (One disc not the 6 disc)

Audio and everything!

Stays on long enough fo me to turn the car off, pull out the key and say "What the -"

Then it goes off...

The only thing I can think of is that the AUX converter draws power in order to signal the HU that it's there? And it's somehow causing this?

Ok so it no longer does it anymore.

Seems like it stopped after I reset the ECU...

Strange huh?

Ok update...

So it still does it but only when I have my GPS plugged in but not turned on.

If I unplugg the gps or it's on when I turn the car off, the radio goes off right away.

If it's plugged in but not turned on, the radio takes a second or two to shut off.

Probably capacitors in the GPS backfeeding through the circuit. If it's really bothersome, maybe install a couple diodes on the cig lighter adapter? That would be my guess without actually seeing the setup.

Doesn't really "bother" me so much.

Just found it odd... And wondering if anyone knew why or if it was about to esplode my HU or something! ;)

You shouldn't be worried about it...i guess its like doing Start/shutdown instead of just holding the power button on a computer
