To all the XB owners if you have replaced your front speakers with components where did you mount your crossovers so they are concealed? Thxs for your help.

In the door.
How so? Is it sitting on the bottom of the inside of the door. Wouldn't it get wet there if you did mount it. I noticed that there is some water coming through the door.

the x-overs don't have to be close to the speakers. There is no reason you can't mount them under the dash someplace, or under the seats, or whaterver, and then run the wires from them to the door.

I mounted them with my amp in the rear storage spot in the back. I wouldn't mount them in the doors....maybe under one of the seats, maybe in a little carpeted box for stealth.

I put mine behind the dash by going through the speakers openings where the tweeters are mounted.

Yeah I wanted to mount it behind the kick panels but there is not enough room. Maybe I can find a spot for them inside the dash somewhere. But space is limited there and these damn crossovers or large. I wanted to mount them behind the door but didn't want any water damage to it. We'll see what happens.

If you're worried about water damage, buy ome foam baffles from crutchfield, wrap the xovers in them, tape them shut, and then mount them. You don't need a a super water tight design, its not going to flood inside the door, just enough to keep the occassional splash/drip of water away. It won't look pretty, but it'll be inside the door anyhow, so no one is gonna see it.

It won't make any difference. I've heard some people say that it does, but I've mounted the xovers in three different cars both close and far from the speakers. In none of those three cars did it make any discernable difference. Granted they were all high end components (mb quarts QSD's when mb quarts were *really* good, and PPR pro class amps when those were dominating the market.) so perhaps on lower quality comps, that could be an issue.

Regarding the components for sale, that should really be posted in a new thread, in the classified section. Otherwise that's thread jacking.

Worried about water getting in? Here's a tip. Deaden inside the doors. Once that's done, tape up any gaps you have (I really like to glass them over but the method I'm about to describe is cheap yet effective). Tape tehm shut with either chrome looking duct tape (available at heating and air supply stores. It's actually metal, and it's an industrial grade tape.) From there, spray over it with rubberized undercoating. Water tight. Then you can mount them in there wherever you want.

Use velcro to attach it to the inside of the exterior panel.

Don't worry about water, my brother's had his in there for a year without problems (this is new england, mind you. We have actual weather here).

Barring that, are you using the stock tweeters? You could mount them where they go.

I have a 3 way jl component set and I tried mounting the crossover on the inside of the door panel with the industrial strength 3M tape it held for a bit but then fell off. Damn crossovers are bulky and heavy. I am using all stock mounting location except for the tweets which I made pods for on the little triangle thing i forgot what it is called.

This may or may not help as I used the Arc Audio components.

I mounted the tweeters in the dash, in the stock OEM speaker location. The crossover is in the dash, out of sight. The 6.5 inch woofer is in the custom fibreglass kick panel.
