of an xA's stock head unit?

The radio sounds either too low or muddy most of the time...but I don't wanna do too much to the car, thanks.

new speakers and amp are the way to go. that's the only way to get great sound.

to answer you question...no, in order to get clear sound u also need some good speakers. and u can't expect good sound from fm radio unless its HD

a good HU is the heart of any clear sounding audio system

You'd be suprised how much better a 200watt HU sounds over the stock 140watt (140 or 150w i think) pioneer with even the stock speakers

Oh, have you checked to see which mode (xA, xB, tC) the stereo's presettings are on? If it sounds that bad then the dealership probably didn't set it to xA, being that the default is the tC preset, which has been agreed upon as being the worse of the 3.
