Window shades to hide system
I'm thinkin about gettin some kind of pull down shades for the rear windows of my box. I know they have ones for babys that are kinda perferated but i want somthin solid, like the ones you can pick up at home depot for regular windows. my windows are tinted but it would be nice to totally block off the view of my system. I will prob be making some 3 custom ones: two small ones for the sides and one super wide one for the hatch. Anybody have suggestions or a better idea?[/img]
Well let's see here. After READING his post, he said his windows are already tinted, and the subject line says he IS trying to hide something, his system! Jeesh. Anyway, I know you can buy universal pull down shades from any Home Depotish store. I know they are available in white, don't know about any other colors. Most likely you're going to be looking at something custom though, as I'm sure the locations you're planning aren't typical window-width sizes. That being said, I would look up some custom blind makers in the yellow pages, see if they can point you in the right direction.

I tried modifying a couple of the home depot type pull down shades - not much luck. Everything I found was pretty much junk and started falling apart when modified. Tried some of the automotive specific pull down shades from wally world - these things are REALLY garbage!!
I ended up buying a few of the aluminum/bubble wrap looking shades intended to shade the windshield. I cut these to fit in the side windows - works great, easy to store, keeps prying eyes out and the car stays a little cooler too. If you do this, cut them slightly larger then the glass area so you can tuck them around the door frame and they stay in nicely. I cut cardboard templates for mine. I might even sew some trim on them so they are dressed up a little.

What about the cover that you can pull over top of things in the back of the car. I believe it is one of the dealer options. It extends from the seat to the hatch. I don't know if that would work for what you need it for.
The xA has the little pullover dealy like Brunt is describing, I got it on my car and it's pretty cool... the wife constantly tosses her purse back there and draws the little screen over so noone can see. Though with 25% tint in the back it's really tough to see in there even in broad daylight.
What the original poster is talking about sounds cool but does sound like a custom job. Imagine you want to be able to drive with them deployed so you have to worry about clanking noises coming from there, it would have to be a pretty tight setup.
