i think we should start a "Pirate Band-Aid" carclub. LOL. i have had my windshield replaced once, repaired once, and now have to get it replaced because the repair wound up cracking anyway.

As Tomas said, the xB windshield is a rock magnet, i constantly here the "click" of pebbles and stuff on my windshield. when i got it replaced the first time, the guy said its a combination of the angle of the front of the xB nd the angle of the windshield itself. a sharper angle to the windshield and the rock/pebble would just graze and continue over the vehicle. he assured me that its not just a problem for the box owners.

Is this a universal install?
__ It is indeed universal.
do i need a special part num. for my xA?
__ No, the same part number covers all years, all models of Scion.
is there a special technique for applying this "band-aid"?
__ Ensure that the surface is clean and dry, remove the backing from one-half of the product and carefully apply it to the windshield crack with the product centered over the crack. Once that half is firmly attached, remove tha other half of the backing and carefully press the remaining portion of the product over the crack.

Note: If the product is placed in an area within the sweep of the wipers, do NOT use the wipers with the product installed. Damage to the product could result.

Damn! I totally missed that! All this time the OEM parts were right there. *sigh*

Now I have to figure out what all those other OEM emergency parts in there are for!

Beware! I understand that lesser quality Pirate Band-Aides are being sold on eBay. Don't fall for this, only buy the real thing.

Actually they arent available until the 06.5 model year. My 06 black cherry pearl (stopped making that color for 06.5 too) has the old steering wheel, old cloth pattern, new stereo options....

Is there perhaps a package that includes both the crack and the band-aid? Betcha you could get a good deal! I'll have to check E-bay and Optomize. LOL
