the wireless ones which are really cheap are decent but you can't use the colored version at night because it's a pretty dinky picture. Not enough light unless you pay extra for the white led bulbs that surround it but make the entire lens 3 times bigger (not gunna fit in rear wiper hole and will look like crap in the bumper)

I recomend the black and white version because the pic is always clear (as clear as your gunna get for under $50) and a good deal of em can handle sound as well which is a definite plus in my book.

i was thinking of mounting one on the trunk key hole and just extend the wires out for the battery but thinking someone will try and gouge or scratch it so I will just glass it, place a led on each cam corner for lighting and mount the whole thing in the middle headrest of the backseat..should look like one of those headrest brackets is what 'm shooting for. the other one 'm thinking by the front dome lights, by the flipdown screen or by the seatbelt post..i'll just have to look and see where I can get the most view of the back seat, it's primarily to monitor the kids instead of looking back..

I dont know what type of Scion you have but the xB doesn't have a key hole on the hatch.

as far as led's i think you might want to try infared led's cause if you put white ines in it will stick out like a sore thumb and get even more attention even by the seat belt or head rest the white led will shine in you kids face and blind them ----- think of the sony handy cam with night vision or night vision goggles they are internaly lit by infrared light you cant see the infared (cuz its at a light wave length that humans cant see)--- now if you point it at another camera you will see it ( even like pointing an electronics remote-tv the image sensor will pick it up)

now i know you can buy the infared light illuminator as an add-on to any wireless or wired camrea cuz i was gonna get a few for my apartment fo survalence / watch my fish tank at night but some are a little steep for a project that i just wanted to try

you will be better off gitting a whole unit that has the infared unit on the camera you will have to build or come up with a system to convert the electronics to run on your car battery -- i know most are already 9-12 volts but it is the millamp voltage that you have to stay within range if not you have a chance of damaging the whole camera cuz the ccd chip is very small and thin and can heat up and blow up
