xA Security System
Hey guys, just wondering if anyone can give me some info about this alarm. I called the dealership today to see which alarm they were going to install when my xA gets here from Japan. They told me that they don't install a "factory Scion Security System" they said that they install a Magnadyne Silencer 7094a. I have three questions...
1) Does anyone have this "Silencer" system installed and if so, how is it, what features does it have etc?
2) Is there such a thing as the VIP Security System shown on the scion.com website?
http://www.scion.com/showroom/xa/accessories/
Click on interior, then Scion Security
3) If there is such a system, and I am paying $499 for the Silencer (same as indicated on scion.com for VIP) should I beef with the dealership to get the Scion VIP system installed?
Any input is appreciated. Thanks in advance.
!*!*! 7 DAYS AND COUNTING !*!*!

Dont spend $500 of your hard earned cash on an alarm, unless you built it in to your loan( even then i would't spend $500 for that). Get an name brand alarm, like Viper or Python, and you can save some money,an use it to buy other items. Or if you really want to spend all $500 on the alarm, you can get alram, remotestart and maybe squeeze in window roll up's for that price. This is just my opionin, do what you like with your car.
Hey, thanks for the reply. But yeah, I have the alarm rolled up in my financing so I am not paying for it up front. I would never spend $500 cash for an alarm, for too many other toys I could get for that!
But, seeing as it is going through the dealership either way, do you or anyone have any opinion on the first post?

Is the dealership going to warranty both? Does one have a lifetime warranty and one a year? This would be a deciding factors for me, plus like your other stament: What features does each come with?
Well, I believe they both come with warranty spanning the life of the cars warranty (5 years). As far as features go, I found the manual for the Silencer, but I don't know what features the Scion Security comes with. Here is a link to the Silencer manual if you want it:

Looks like a standard alarm, nothing fancy. I think i need to go work for the Stealership, I mean Delearship, LoL, make some money. The alarm number in the first post does not match any on that PDF. If you could request one the 6945 remote is very nice, just like my Viper one.
LOL. That's my problem. I am paying 500 for this and it doesn't even do what my alarm on my wife's neon can do and it only cost 230 installed! I read somewhere else on this site, another thread somewhere, with people talking about the dealership threw in a crappy alarm instead of the Scion alarm, and they were saying all kinds of things about how the Scion alarm was better, but now I can't find it, and it wasn't very detailed with features either, so i thought I'd start another.
Bust there chops and have them take it to a Circuit City or a Best Buy and have an alarm installed. Shoot they may make more money doing it that way. Tell them your concerns maybe they will work with you. Maybe your wirking with one of the few good dealerships in the country, dont know till you try..
I had the same thing happen at the dealership...I went with Scion Security for one reason...it was pre wired, no splicing necessary, and I am perfectly happy with it. If you paid for Scion Security, the demand it from your dealership. Trust me, it's worth it, it looks better, and I have the peace of mind that it is a waranteed part, waranteed install, and no wires were cut to make it work. I hear everyone say it's not worth it, but I am very happy with the system. And like everyone else says, you can get an aftermarket system for much cheaper. Here's the thread you were talking about...

PM scionspecialistvegas or go to www.ScionSpecialties.net. He sells alarms that are pre-wired for Scions. I bought the pager alarm from him and installed it myself. It was an experience, never installing an alarm myself, but he is very helpful and has great customer service!
Guess what, I have worked both places. At the dealership, the sometimes subsitute an aftermarket for Margin, or it just might be a factory alarm under a differnt name. From the Best Buy/ Circuit City stand point. If anything and I mean AN NE THING goes wrong with the electrical system in the car, the dealer will and I mean WILL say it was the alarms fault and will try to find a way not to warrenty it. I have seen this many a times. Even for a mechanical door lock problem, they blamed the aftermarket stuff.
In truth, a Python 881XP or Viper 791VX will do you much better then the factory installed. It will have a door trigger, shock sensor, remote start (for automatics only) and allow you to add on field disturbance sensors, window mods, tilt sensors, gps, glass break, etc. And because there is no chip on xA/xB (there is on a tC) you can have it installed at your local Circuit City for $500. Best Buy and Tweeter/Local guys might charge a bit more. and a Python/Viper MUST be installed by a authorized DEI location, else it voids the lifetime warrenty.

I just bought my xA less than two weeks ago and the dealership put in a reallllly crappy after market alarm. I paid the full $499 for it too. They told me I was getting the factory alarm but when I picked it up I already had the garbage alarm installed. I demanded the real Scion factory alarm and they took the crap one out and put in the real one. Its much much better. Dont put up with thier bs. For the $499, demand the real Scion alarm.
Btw, I think the post s2hrecords is talking about is mine... https://www.scionlife.com/forums/vie...870&highlight=

I agree with kaotic1! Get your money's worth! Demand the genuine Scion system. You will be glad you did! It has the 3yr/36000 mile warranty like your new car, and the dealer can't blame it for any problems or give you any warranty headaches.
