I'm asking because I don't know if I need to remove the tail light in order to change the brake light bulb (7443). mine went out and i dont have access to a socket wrench in case i need to take the light/housing off.

so - do i need to remove the tail light housing itself to change the brake light bulb?

You don't have to... access back there sucks though. You have to take the access panel off in the hatch. The upper bulb is the brake light, the bulb twists out with a 1/4 turn. Pop the old one out and the new one in. That's pretty much it. Again, it helps to have small hands. And don't drop the bulb, it'll fall into the fenderwell, and it's a pita to get it back out.

hahaha - thanks for the tip, dude. it's ridiculous enough to post a q about how to change the light bulb... lol - but the only tools i have are a screw driver and a socket set with like 10 sockets - that's about it. lol... so i was wondering if i just needed to buy any tools to do this...
