Default xB Direct Replacement Speakers/sizes

Yeah...I know...use the search function....and I did.

I remember a long time ago, there was a post here that listed some direct drop in replacement speakers (I believe they were Pioneer part numbers) but no matter what type of search I use, I can't find the post.

If someone can answer this or link the faq post, I'd appreciate it.

I currently have the stock speakers in my xB and am looking for some drop-in, no modification replacements that sound better than stock. Anyone have any part numbers, etc?

Thanks!

I know they have a upgraded bazooka package, i think TRD Sparks sells it. It looks like it drops right in, check it out.

Bah F that thing. My dealer had a deal with a local shop and instead of the Bazooka package, I have a Fosgate amp and a 10" sub under the passenger's seat in a custom box that sounds tons better than the factory Bazooka tube. I was asking about the other speakers...door/dash/panel that I could swap out. I swear that a few months ago there was a tech post with some specific part numbers for some retail Pioneer speakers...but I'm open to pretty much anything and am curious as to some simple drop-in replacements...something I wouldn't need a shim or spacer for...just a pure drop-in.

The front speakers are 6 1/2 on the door, the dash are 3" but you need to make an adapter plate so that they fit because most 3" don't have a wide mounting like the factory do, and the rear are 5 1/4.

Thanks! I couldn't remember about the dash speakers... I know that in that magic post I can't find, someone listed a Pioneer part number to one of their 'oversized' speakers that actually dropped in the dash...with no mounting plates required. Heh I'll keep digging on the net for that one.

He meant there was a set of bazooka speakers (NOT the sub) offered for sale as an upgraded system in some regions of the country. I have no idea how good these are but they are a direct factory replacement kit.

Ahh... I don't have any personal experience with any speakers from them other then their subs. I've used MB Quart, JL Audio, and JBL in the past primarily. I'll check them out and see if I can find some reviews.

Hey Straylight, I am also looking to replace my speakers. I remember from past posts that the dash speakers can be replaced with Pioneer 4", just break or cut off 2 of the mounting tabs Also needs a crossover capacitor to make them tweeters only.. 6 1/4 or 6 1/2 for the front doors and 5 1/4 rears. 6 1/2 can be put in the back, but it requires some modificarion. I also remember the posts with the Pioneer numbers, just can't remember the numbers off the top of my head. I think most were purchased at Wally World.

I put Pioneer TS-G1041R 4" in the dash, just had to cut the mounting tangs from circles into a U shape, dropped right in, and Pio TS-G1641R 6 1/2" in the doors, had to destroy the original speakers to use the mounting brackets as the hole on the door is much larger, unsoldered both connectors from the old speakers, and onto the new ones. Also used a 200HZ cap on the 4". all plugs into factory wiring and they sound soooooo much better. Got both for under $100 at Best Buy, but have heard of others getting them both under $50. Good luck

I popped in the TS-G1041Rs in the dash with a 200Hz cap on them. I could tell an immediate improvement. I also have those 6 1/2s and some Pioneer 5.25s right now ready to go in, but I want to find a really good walkthrough so I don't end up destroying my interior.

quick question about the pioneer TS-G1041R dash speakers: what kind of a sound baffle/surround did you make for those? what did you use? It's a strange shaped hole that it sits in.

Also, did most people put some kind of anti-vibration/rattle foam on the sound baffle/surround? Thanks for the help.

I didn't...there wasn't one on the stock speaker, so I didn't use any on the Pioneer I dropped in.

I probably will with the doors/back panels though, I just haven't gotten there yet.

but, the back of the original speakers were sealed, so they don't need a surround. I think your midrange will suffer if you don't put a baffle around them.

I haven't dug into the doors and back panels yet (still looking for a good walkthrough or exploded diagram) so I haven't seen what the factory midrange speakers look like.

I've see a few messages from folks saying they trashed the original speakers and used their housing...so I don't know the feasability of this... I guess I will figure something out when I get in there.

You can make your own plates in the front with ABS plastic or you could order some like this in the link below, you will also need to find some for the 5 1/4's in the rear.

in the 2005 model, the speakers were rivited in place. You had to drill out the rivit, remove the speaker and baffle, and just screw new holes. Least thats what I did. Also try getting a 12X12 square of speaker dynamat and placeing that over the hole, then cut an X in the center of the hole, place the speaker in this to get sizing. Then push back the triangle pieces so that the stick to the inside of the door or back panel. Then put the speaker in place, screw in new self tapping screws and your done.

Nice idea. Know where I can find a good how-to to disassemble my interior?
