Default XB Fog Lights - Too Dim

Hola fellow SL friends,

Looking for some brighter Fog light bulbs for my 2005 XB.

I installed some Super Blue Xenon headlights and now the Foggers are just way too Dim and yellowish looking.

Anyone got a hook up on brighter Fog light bulbs ? Maybe just clear covers would help...

Any input would be appreciated. Thanks !

I have MTEC yellow bulbs and I swear they light up the road much better than any white/blue bulb, even silverstars. Regular bulbs just blend in with the headlights, but yellow bulbs really make a difference. You can't really make the fogs "brighter" but you should try a yellow bulb and see the difference.

I got a set from JC Whitney. They were 90 watts per side and run at 2800K color temp. They are a touch on the yellow side, but then that is what fogs are supposed to do. Light up the road in bad weather, and the slightly yellow color does just that.

If I remember, they were in the bulb section and they were called "All Weather" bulbs. About $12.00 per side. I love them. About twice a good as the stock bulb that came with the fogs.

Are you running stock wire harnesses? I'm pretty sure the stock wiring is not rated for such high wattage bulbs.

Yea, it stock. It's OK. With a relay in the system, plus I did'nt even have to up the amperage of the fuse. Those wire will take a lot more than what is needed to power a 90 watt bulb. I'm more worried about melting the plastic bulb housings than I am about the wires.

You mostly have problems with wires on American car lighting systems. They usually are fused together, not a seperate fuse for each side like most Asian and German cars.

I've been playing this high watt bulb game for years with no problems....except on American cars.

I see. Are the bulbs tinted or just higher wattage?

The bulbs are both tinted slightly yellow and a higher wattage. Not too yellow, just enough to make a difference on a rain night.

Do you really think the problem was the luminics bulbs and not the harness or some other problem? 3 watts is NOT going to do this. Besides,.....if it were any other brand 3 watts is 3 watts.
the problem here is clearly NOT the bulb manufacture

so you are saying it's the harness? i say it's the bulb... i hope it's not the harness because that means that there's a potentiall defect with the stock wiring and it should be recalled. if some one here melts their wiring with other brand of bulbs or may be stock... then it could be the harness. so far it happened to luminics customers. give it a doubt it could be users errors but i doubt those guys are like napoleon dynamite. one member told luminics and they simply told him to put the stock bulbs and take it to the dealer. luminics are hush hush about it. again it happened to luminics customers only...

upgrading the wiring harnesses costs like $20.00 for both the headlights and fogs. definately a wise investment if you plan on using a higher wattage bulb.

Yes. JDM fogs have a reflective inner housing. The US xB fogs have a dull, smoked inner housing. Why? Who knows. But it kills the light output
