Has anyone installed a 4-inch coax or component up in the dash?

Wooky1976 ... I have Rockford Fosgate Punch FRC-1204 in that location. They fit perfectly. You just need to cut 2 of the mounting tabs off.

If you cut the 2 tabs, the tabs that takes in the factory speaker screw right where can I screw in the aftermarket speakers.

Sorry, I should have been more clear. You need to cut 2 of the 4 tabs that are on the speaker itself. Otherwise it will not fit into the hole. Also, the 2 tabs that are left on the speaker must have the holes enlarged a little so they align with the factory mounts. No modification needs to be done to the vehicle. If you want, I can send you a picture of mine installed. Trust me ... it is so simple to do. I even unsoldered the factory wire clip and put it on the new speakers so I did not have to cut any wires.

Just wondering what you think of the speakers? How much of an improvement is it over stock?

Are you running an amp?

They are a major improvement over the stock ones. Especially if you have an aftermarket radio. I have a Pioneer Avic-N1 and they sound great. They are also a lot louder because it is actually bigger than the stock speaker.

Are you talking about the tabs on aftermarket speakers. I haven't seen any component speakers with tabs in all the years i've done installations. I remember that most comps have foam 1/8 inch skipping every mounting hole.

Yea, these aftermarket speakers do have tabs. Click the following link to see a picture of a similar model.

Did you change out any other speakers?

I am thinking of getting a amp and maybe speakers. A sub would be nice.
