Default Xb Steering Wheel Audio Controls

I would like to make my radio mode button on my steering wheel the mute button, has anyone explored the connectors on the back of the Pioneer Color-changing stereo to see if there are any connector pins I could swap to change the function of that button?

In short. No. The wires going into the radio have a function that is the only thing they do. No way to rewire it. Only because there is no external mute button.

Pat: Thanks for the reply, I thought maybe there was a pin for cell phone mute that I could have trasferred the mode button wire to, well so much for that idea.

Thanks

The problem you have is that there isn't a different wire for each function, if that was the case, I'm sure we could come up with some solution. Instead, there is one wire that controls the functions of the headunit via the steering wheel controls. When each button is pressed, it presents a different resistance to ground on that single wire. So for the 5 functions of the steering wheel controls, you will have 5 varying resistances.

Now if you replace your factory deck, with an aftermarket, then in many cases, with the aide of a PAC Audio interface, you can assign any button any function that would be available on the aftermarkets wired/wireless remote. In the case of the AVIC-D1 I put in my xB, when I install the correct interface for it (SWI-PS) I plan on setting up volume up-down and tracking as normal but using the mode button for mute, as the AVIC-D1, does not have a mute button.

Chris.
