... and have it work with the Pioneer stock SCION radio? I realize I would also need the adapter.
The price they charge at the dealer for this is pure highway robbery.

To my knowledge this won't work with the scion radio. Crap i know. You might want to think about looking into the XM commander from Terk and a PIE adapter.
I think Toyota has somekind of deal with Pioneer since they are producting the scion units.

I've seen the XMD1000 combined with the XMDPIO100 and the PIE interface TOY03/PC-PIOX... in a Solara (no text only, cd display on factory radio)
The XM Commander mentioned herein is also a good choice, however you will need an auxiliary input to pass the audio from the commander to the radio.

these will not work with the factory h/u i have been down this
road allready if you can spare the $$ the factory setup is so
worth it if you can find someone in your area with it in their car your ears can give it a road test the dealer i work for could not sell one even at the new lower price so i offerd my car for customers to road test turns out im now installing a xm system every other day
