I have seen it installed and it looks very classy, especially when folded up. You hardly notice it's there. I ordered one.

I like it ... except i'm not quite sure how the zeta armrest matches up to the rest of the xB interior... that was and still is my only real concern (that and... the 200$ lol). Isn't there some way of overlaying the scion fabric on to it?

Anyhow lava, if I'm ever out by SI, you mind if I check it out sometime? Or hmm if I could figure out where zeta is in NJ...

This cupholder option does push me more in the way of getting a zeta armrest (if I ever get an armrest...)

As for the other stuff...I think there's nothing wrong with ppl plugging their sponsor's products... people do it all the time... some sponsors even plug their own product..
I think people are intelligent enough to take that into account..
Of course, it is a bit funny that three of you guys raving about it... all have zeta as a sponsor..

Anyhow I'm quite curious as to what UBOW thinks the perfect armrest would be. I think design-wise (functionally) the Zeta armrest is pretty good... how it looks.. well I'm still undecided...
I think I would've prefered a more solid core with dual cupholders in the back.. like the armrest someone ripped off another car (I forget which car.. I think it was a saturn)... sure we give up the rear storage space...
but I think it looks better than the metal brackets...

Another thing that might be cooler if you could flip the top all the way back
to double as some sort of table like thing for the people in back...

The core is left open so you can use the rear storage area in the factory console.
I actually asked about dual cup holders, its just not feasible if you lean your seats back at all.

And to answer your other question.............not to CF.

More than half the posts in here are from people associated with zeta products.

Honestly, I don't see this as some kind of fantastic innovation. It's an off the shelf cupholder that you can screw to the back of your armrest so it's more like the stock piece. Big deal.

Nobody said it was a fantastic innovation. People wanted a cup holder so they came out with one.
And it's not quite an "off the shelf cupholder". The bracket is made of the same material as the frame of the armrest. Very strong and durable.

I'm with you. Looks like any attachable cupholder you can get from an auto-store. Sure it may be the same material, but it just looks cheap to me. Sorry to all the fans, but what is the difference of attaching that cup holder to the arm rest or to the seat-back hooks? Props for being the first to do it though.

It's been a busy week and I just got back to the internet.

Chimmy3, you hit the nail on the head! There is no reason why Zeta can't match the fabric. They just want to go cheap with vinyl while you suck up and pay $200. The other thing that you notice is the lack of a 2nd cup holder in the back. What, the two people in the rear gonna fight over who uses the one and only cup holder? Glad I wasn't the only person to catch this one.

When I get my armrest I will be working on making dual cupholders for the back seat, finding cloth for the armrest and a couple of other upgrades the armrest could provide. When I get my expense check from work I order it and cruise control!

Thanks Chimmy3 for being observant.

Hi All:

I didn’t think a cup holder would stir up so much controversy.

To answer UBOW’s question on why we didn’t go with the factory cloth. We don’t feel it would hold up as well. The factory cloth will fade and show wear marks over time. It is also a bit abrasive on the bare arm and elbow.

As for the cup holder issue, we have 1 more cup holder than Scion; the original on the console and the fold-down. You install a factory Scion armrest, you still have 1 cup holder. The factory doesn’t seem think more are needed.

Finally to touch on Chimmny3’s comment on the issue of a “More solid core.” We have a very solid and stable core. We went with this design because we didn’t want to change or disturb any existing component in the vehicle. Please email/call me do discuss anything in greater detail.

oh I did not mean to suggest that your armrest wasn't sturdy or stable at all

I meant I would've preferred a solid core for aesthetic reasons.
I think done right it would look better than the metal brackets, and maybe provide a more OEM feel to it. I would get the official scion cupholder (since it would match the interior) but for some reason I hate the way it looks. in fact i really dislike its design. no storage... and the rear cupholder looks weird to me.

I received my Zeta cup holder and attached it in a few minutes. It looks great and hides away nicely when not in use. Could it be better? Maybe, it could provide love and companionship, but it doesn't. All it does is secure a single beverage while looking stylish and asks for nothing in return. This my friends is the duty of the unselfish Zeta cup holder.

Cloth you say? I think not! I would rather wipe my arm lather clean from the soft vynal than have it soak into the bowels of a fabric covered cushion and fester in the heat of summer. This would be unsanitary, very unsanitary.

And let's not overlook it's adjustability and storage. If not for the additional storage, I would not have adequate space for my various sundries and if not adjustable I would lean to the left at such a severe angle as to cause carpel tunnel syndrome.

God bless Zeta Products and those who sponsor them.

I'm sorry but the zeta looks ugly to me and that cupholder is a 2.99 walmart piece , not that I have anything against walmart cupholders. just thought it'd be alot nicer looking than that.

question for 5spd drivers:

does the zeta impair your shifting while driving around town? it looks longer and higher than other competing armrests.

The way mine sits allows me to rest my arm and have my hand sit sqarely on the shifter. No problems at all.
I'm not sure if this true for everybody, I would guess that it would depend on your personal physical make-up.

Damn dude, ever heard the saying "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all"? I guess not, if you had your post count wouldn't be so high.

Next to the Kidney Dialysis machine and 2 ply toilet paper, the xB Armrest IS life’s most critical device. The serious discussion and analysis of the Zeta Armrest can not be understated.

I agree FrankenScion, I can shift just fine with my zetaproducts Storage armrest with rear cupholder and the rear cupholder is a life saver. I highly recommend this armrest as it is superior to the stock one or other aftermarkets. Several people in our club are making the switch.
