Default attempting to drop

so my first attempt with the install of my tein Htech springs came to a bit of a halt...the entire strut came out with no problem...but when it came to dislodge the strut from the tower that's where i ran into the problem....as i tried to unscrew it...*with the spring compressed...the piston just spun...and nothing happenened...the screw didn't even come lose...it just spun the entire piston...granted i was using primative rachets and not impact tools...could this be the problem...or am i the first to run into something like this?...

any info would be greatly appreciated....

whell first off. you might need to hold the shaft of the strut with a clap or pliers. just to break the nut. then it should come out after that.

If you take a rag and wrap it arount the piston and clamp it with a pair of vice grips you should be able to remove the nut.

I didn't use spring compressors when I did mine, and my eyes are still here.

i have done many of these.....

you must remove the nut with an impact wrench with the spring un-compressed, it will not fly away and hurt someoneit will only spring outabout 10 inches at most.

That's what I'm talking about.

I'm thinking if there was load on the strut, then the whole assembly wouldn't spin.

I was refering to the eye comment, if you read the DIY it says to loosen the nut (not take it off) before you remove the strut. You don't have to use an impact wrench, my hand socket worked just fine.

Since he had already removed the strut and has the springs compressed we gave him some tips.

when I changed the struts on mine I could not get the nut on all the way because the piston was spinning, so I took a rag and my vice grips and it worked great.
