Well thanks, Johnny, that clears it right up.

 

Try using MAPP gas instead of propane. It comes in a yellow tank and is the same size as the propane tank. It burns a lot hotter than propane. I think your just not getting it hot enough. Try putting a wet towel on the bearing part to keep it cooler than the spacer.

It wont burn because you don't put the torch directly on the cloth. You focus the heat on the spacer. I use wet scotts rags while brazing copper lines and those don't burn. I also use a oxy-acetylene torch which is way hotter than MAPP gas. So there should be no worries about anything bursting into flames. Even if there's PB blaster on there its not going to flame up to where you cant control it.

 

Yea, what little PB Blaster is actually there pretty much vaporizes when the fire hits. I didn't get any flame ups the other day and there was certainly enough of it.

Just use a air hammer it will cut right through that aluminum (u can get a air hammer from wall mart for like 20bucks and the chisels for it are like 15 ) just cut a notch on both side with the air hammer and then air hammer the 2 pieces off

 

I like the SVX too, its weird, they only made them with automatic though.



I vote for the paint it black and make it look stock idea, if that would even work.
