hey guys... planning on popping in my swift springs this weekend. the instructions also suggested cutting the bumpstop, im still debating on whether i should do it or not. the springs are only supposed to lower it one inch. it looks like most people dont cut the bumpstops, but has it had any adverse effects on anyone that left them alone?

what should i cut it with if i decide to do so?

also plan on slapping on my progress rsb and dc sports strut bar. all at the same time, i think i may explode.

^^^ If it's just an inch or so, don't worry about cutting the stops.

Xa is right, shouldn't be a problem, but if you do cut the bump stop, it looks like this (cut about an inch from bottom):

got it done.

took about 2 hours with a lot of "where the hell is the 14mm?!" kind of stuff.

the strut will not separate itself from the knuckle unless the opposite wheel is also elevated slightly or simultaneously.

i would definitely recommend having 2 jacks on hand, maybe even 3 if you can haha

the axle popped out once, but only a little so it slipped right back in. everything is fine as of right now. definitely make sure you have a scissor jack or something, dont let your axle fall out. it was a nightmare on my cousin's civic.

one question though:

on the rear springs, i am not sure if i lined everything up the exact way it was before – meaning the springs may be rotated into different positions. they are also not placed in the exact same way as each other – one spring's end is not in the same place as the other side.

if you can decipher what my concern is from that previous paragraph... do i or do i not have a problem?

i skipped doing the progress rsb because i wanted to see its overall effect – if i had done everything at the same time i wouldnt know the difference.

so, as of right now, im loving these springs. definitely tighter, not a major drop, about an inch. this is just how i wanted it. these springs are not in the spring sticky, can i propose that we drop it in?

^^^ You're probably ok on the rear. But post up some good clear pix and we'll let you know for sure.

And yes, elevating both the front wheels at the same time is a must.

IMPORTANT INFO ABOUT UNBOLTING THE SPRING!!:

just because the spring does not pop out when the nut is off, this DOES NOT mean that it is safe. i had the nut off and everything, and it did not budge so i figured there wasnt enough stress on the spring for it to shoot out. luckily, i was pointing it away from my face (which was pure luck, by the way) because the moment i nudged the mounting plates, everything shot out. it wasnt a particularly violent force, but it definitely would have been enough for a black eye. the spring itself did not pop itself out of the strut, but the other smaller things did. so guys, dont be fooled!

good luck

its also a good idea to put a blanket over it when taking to the stock spring off when the nut is uninstalled so nothing goes flying all over the place...

they have settled slightly lower since then.

yea, yea... its not really noticeable, but i love it. just as low as i wanted it.

^^^^ ryuji16, how are the springs in terms of comparing to stock ? and as for that drop, i know swift says 1.1 and 0.9 -ish, right ? is that what it's at about ?
looks good, though the rear looks still to be just about at stock height.

yea, the rear is dropped juuust barely. its been a few weeks now and altogether it had dropped just about exactly to what swift claims.

compared to stock, the car is definitely stiffer, but its not a "night and day" difference. you will probably notice a bigger difference than if you had just gotten a progress rsb (which is what i consider a "night and day" difference). however i did notice less "bouncing" than with the stock springs. not a whole lot less, but noticeable.

i wanted something very subtle and easy on the ride comfort, so i went for these. my other choices were trd or htechs, but i heard nothng but good about swift from a few corolla drivers (and plus i got a pretty good deal).

how do trd struts compare to other aftermarket struts? right now im on the fence between trd and tokico hps (the existence of the hps are still a mystery... i dont think anyone has them yet)

160 is still too expensive i think... its definitely not that hard

the back literally takes less than 30 minutes ( and thats being generous )
