I used them for a few months. Then when I rode people around in the back seat my rear tires started rubbing the wheel well lip. It actually started carving the edge of the pass. tire. I have the OTG spacers and this may have been the main problem. I don't want to loose the look the OTG spacers give so I just put the stock springs back on. Now the rubbing is gone completely.

yay for stock. i want to lower but can't due to needing to carry people and cargo. oh well.

why dont u try the trds only lower about an inch ive heard of people still being able to park over those cement blocks in parking lots

I may put them on later and take off the OTG spacers and see how that works.

What are the specs on your wheels and tires? It sounds like you might not have enough backspacing/offset on the wheels to run the drop and the spacers.

If you are only rubbing on the sidewall of the tire, removing the spacers will fix the problem. If you still want to push the wheel out you can run a 5mm wheel spacer instead of a 10mm hub spacer. This should allow you to continue to run the drop springs without the rubbing issues.

The wheels are 42 offset and the tires are 215/45/17's. I prolly should have gotten 215/40's instead. Next time I put the springs back on I'll just pull the spacers first. I thought the OTG's were 20mm each side. Do they make spacers (that go behind the backing plate) narrower than the OTG's?

Hmmm... with your specs, it is kind of odd you are rubbing at all. Yeah, the 45s are a little tall, but that shouldn't affect it that much.

The OTG spacers are actually 3/8" wide. Just under 10 mm. That makes me wonder if the Hotchkis springs just have a super low spring rate. Or are a progressive spring that has a pretty soft low end.

The reason I say this is that my wife's car is dropped lower on DF210s running 215/35/18s on 18x7.5 with +45 offset and OTG hub shims. We have put people in the back several times without issue. A lower spring rate could quickly create an issue though.

You might want to consider selling your Hotchkis springs and buying something else, since you already have the springs removed. Sorry I couldn't offer more help.

I'm thinking the monroe shocks being softer than the OEM's allow the rear end to travel farther up allowing the lip to contact the outer corner of the tire. It only did it when hitting a big dip or bump.
