Buying new wheels... need help

I'm new to buying rims / tires, but down the road I'm looking to buying a new set for my tC. If I were to get 17" rims, would I just get the same size tires that currently come with the car? What size would I get for 18" rims?

Dont buy 17". They're a bit small for the tC. Go for 18" with tire size 225/40/18. 18" wheels with a little of a drop is perfect for tC
