not to go off tangent but what the heck, that guy has a full sized spare on the lift back.
I wonder how he manged to keep the hatch open?
And look- WOOD paneling the inside roof. Wow.
A lot of thought and hard work went into this surfer's special.

Yeah! Again! Thanks for this new crop of pictures guys!
OK, so in the second picture above is a blue bB with Ray's Cal Choppys (nearly sure of it)
And look at Tom's car: These are inexpensive, no-name brush finished snap-on covers he got from ebay for a song.
The basic, most basic look is similar. It's hard to speak UP for $$$ Rays wheels when you -could- get a moon look for a tiny fraction of the cost for Choppys.
but here I am all moony eyed for the JDM retro bling look in mirror finish.
And I am a spendthrift when it comes to auto passion now. I'll prolly scrape the
new wheels inside a week. But happily so.
cheers. More pics and votes please. Am amazed that even one in ten can stand the look of RAYS. thanks. reid

blow up of detail of blue bB above.
YES, this is definitely the Cal Choppy. Note the high mirror finish.
Note how the mirror disk is safely inset, protecting it from curb scrapes.
I expect to scrape the white rim paint by parking error eventually, but that is easy to repair.
See, my tires are low profile 15's and have nearly no sidewall bulge or height, by which to protect the edge of a rim, or surface mounted cap, such as Tom uses.
---
Another blow up for comparison.
The high crown of the other mooned car above
gives a much different reflection of the surroundings.
Rather prefer the low-crown, true mirror look of the Choppy.
sidebar: I make these crops and image conversion EZ with a freeware program
called Gadwin Printscreen. It's the handiest program I've ever enjoyed using.
You can snapshot any image or full screen view. Save as jpg or gif or tiff.
It's so easy to set up and use. Go to Gadwin for your Printscreen today.
Free Free and it -resizes big jpgs to smaller file sizes or display sizes-
It does what you need and it never bugs your computer up at all.

To finish this thread for now or for good..
thanks, Jamo!
Ok! Today I got pricing for a set of these wheels in OEM size, complete with all fittings and shipping to door. Will take 60 to 90 days.
I pay half up-front and half when the order gets into the hands of the USA distributor.
I'm placing my order through Shawn and Audra, keepers of
http://www.streetsports.com/
The list price: $320 per wheel. Shipping for the four from JPN to door is a combined total of $105..
I know this is a lot of money and it is purely frivolous for moon-look can be gotten for a small fraction of this unique wheel/cover setup. But! I am now in a mood to break previous promises to myself to avoid alloy wheels. I'm a hypocrite at last and .... EXCITED to confess so!
Call them up for a shhhh price break like I'm getting. 12 hundred plus change all told
===
quoted weight of the wheel (15, 6.5") with cover on is 16lbs.
Stock wheel is quoted at 19 pounds.
a modest reduction in unsprung weight, fwiw.
