This set, I have run a bead of RTV silicone caulk around the contact surface, and a bead around the edge of the disk where it meets the rim. It's a pain to check pressures, but lret's see how the covers stay on..
Arrgh! to that!
I got Mooneyes brand "spacer" (model name) hubcaps. They look like JC Whitney caps, but have a doughboy helmet rim-contour (reverse or o-ge). And these are chrome plated steel instead of the warm color of Wedgie's nickel-stainless disk.
Ah, but you mean, the JCW disks don't fit the Toyotal wheel, either? Or at least to say: they don't stay on?
how the OEM covers stay put:
Look at the steel wheel, and see just how that plastic OEM cap goes in so securely and easily? It stays put because:
-the claws reach deep into the dish where there is an annular, raised ridge. The plastic, spring-loaded claws reach in far enough to become captured by this "ramp". A look will make this clearer than words
-the plastic cap is flexible. The claws are spring-expanded. It's a compliant mounting system.
---The great fault of the Moonyes brand disk is that it does not have enough dish to clear the center face of the Toyota wheel. In result the cover's claws cannot reach ni far enough to start that slide-down/grrrrip on the annular ridge in the wheel rim.
is that clear?
SO, when i put the beautiful Mooneyes Spacer disks on Ray's RS2 the other day I used clear silicone RTV in effort to keep them in place for a while.
-wipe down the black paint with MEK solvent. This removes dirt, grease, and the superficial surface of the paint. Makes it prime for the RTV to stick to.
-goop the annular ridge. -goop the cround ridge of the steelie, too. Press on the disk evenly.
NOTE that the outer perimeter of the disk cannot seat flush! In fact, if we push hard on one side in vain effort to seat the disk, the whole !#*$%*# pops off!
It's really a shame. I can't recommend the Mooneyes disks much as I love 'em.
-I don't look forward to tire rotations, etc.. whith this RTV "kluge" (stopgap, make-do)
-------
Wedgie:
- Do your JCW disk claws reach in far enough to start sliding down the annular ridge-ramp?
-Do the perimeters seat FLUSH, jam-up against the rim of the steelie?
(the mooneyes do not, dang!)

You can also have a tire shop install longer valve stems, though that could be expensive.
Wayne,
I understand now from your PM that JC Whitney disks DO fit and DO anchor-in properly.
So I have ordered a set
Recomendation:
Wedgie/Wayne has JC Whitney moons These are actually made by the
Jiffy Metal Products Company of Chicago. They are, I suppose USA made
They are stainless steel vs. chrome plate. That means: relatively salt-resistant
On the other hand--- note well:
Warning: MoonEyes brand "Spacer" model wheelcovers, as seen in Sid's nearby thread, are NOT good fitting to the toyota wheel. They do not go on far enough to latch because the the crown of the wheel is higher than the dome of the disk. NOT GOOD (even tho they are really pretty covers). These are not stainless, but good chrome plate on rust-able steel.
