Default quick offset question

Currently running a set of 17x7 with 215/45/17

However my offset os 35......Previously had the same set-up but with a 40 offset and also without my current 2 inch drop. A friend of mine has the following

17x7 215/45/17 droppped two inches 40 offset

Basically if I add a 5mm spacer to the front will I not rub; from what I can gather 35 offset + 5mm =40 offset

and yes I searched

I run the exact same size combo.

Smaller offset = wheel sticks further out. So your 35 offset plus 5mm spacer = 30 offset. Spacers/shims decrease offset.

AFAIK. 215/45-17 w/40 offset "should not" rub at stock ride height.

Only way to increase offset is to get larger offset wheels-which you don't need.

BTW, did your 40 setup rub with a 2" drop? Thx.

If you add a 5MM spacer to your +35 wheel, it will be the same as a +30 offset wheel.
You cannot go higher in offset unless you are shaving down the inside of the wheel, or moving your arm in, or something drastic as such.

You should be ok as long as you don't go with the monroe shocks. When my Hotchkiss springs were on I had rubbing problems in the rear when I hit large dips. The outter edge of the tire rubbed the WW lip with 40mm offset and 10 mmm OTGs. They didn't do it with the stock shocks.

offset is measured from the center of the RIM so u cannot change it using spacers. But if you add a 5mm spacer it will essentially give u a higher offset from the hub.
