Default Tires keep popping!

I have had my Scion xB for less than a year and have popped my tires 6 times so far. I don't feel like I've been hitting curbs or anything, but I can't think of another explanation for the tires popping this often.

What wheel/tire sizes would be best to keep my tires from popping so easily?

what do you mean by popping? does the tread literally come off the steel threads? a hole suddenly appears?

give more specific info..... what type of wheel are you using.... whose installing your wheels. tire sizes and wheel widths.

brand?
what psi you run?
hitting curbs?
punctures?

Unless you meant to say you're "pooping" tires, in which case youre totally screwed.

Wheels: 17x7 Team Dynamics wheels Pro Race I
Tires: Mirada-sport gtx
205/40R17 84V is what it says on the tire.

They either have punctures on the outsides or the inside of the tire completely rips. I don't think I've hit many curbs, but even if I have, there must be a better sized rim and tire to take bumps like that.

If the tires are shredding and you're getting holes in the sidewall, those are some crappy tires. Shredding/ripping usually happens because the treads weren't affixed to the belts/ply correctly.

I googled around a bit, and it sounds like those Mirada's are made by some company called TBC that buys old tire molds off major manufacturer's then re-uses them.

In short: Buy another brand and save yourself the headaches

Thanks for the info. Is the size of the tires that i have now be a factor to them popping easily? They are so thin that it seems like it takes nothing for them to rip.

The tires were cheap because i havent had money to change them all out and figuring that they pop so easily, i didnt want to waste the money.
Just took out a loan for $1500 so it should allow me to buy higher-quality tires. someone recommended 215/50/17?

just check out tire rack or discount tire direct.

if you want good cheap tires, get some kumho's. they are cheap, but very good tires for the money.

Nothing to do with the thin sidewall (unless you're offroading). I've been running 35 series for years in my pothole filled city.

Like guy above suggested, just get some kumho's. I've had good luck w/ falken's too.

Sidewall failure can occur from under inflation which causes more heat build up in the sidewall especially at high speeds. Make sure they don't rub when turned hard also.

Took the words right out of my mouth

I would definitely get a little bit bigger tire. 215/45 or the 215/50 that someone already suggested. It will help kill that wheel gap a bit.

Have all of the ones that "popped" been of that same brand?

And you didn't think to maybe try something different after the 2nd or 3rd one? Really?

^ Yea. Crappy tires always blowing didn't cross your mind first? If I had a blowout and didn't hit anything, I'd get different tires... not the same stuff.
