Default Anyone done this yet?

Whats up all. I'm thinking of getting a 3M clearbra for my box. Ijust got a quote for professional installation: $675! You gotta be kidding Me! So, has anyone installed one of these themselves yet? Can a half way intelligent Do It Youselfer such as myself do the job without F-ing it up? Any advice would be appreciated.

From what I understand they resurface your nose before installation with some special stuff. The install should carry a garuantee agianst bubbles...

I'ld hate to be half done and see a bubble! It's costly but as I've seen, woth it.

$675? I don't want to be your financial advisor or anything, but maybe put that cash towards the new paint job you'll need in 3 years. Unless, of course, you can get something similar for about $600 less.

No, the actual bra costs around $175, the Installation is 675. As for the resurfacing, I'd probably just claybar the front end before applying the film. Anyone have any experience with this?

Why not just rock the leather/vinyl bra? It works for strippers, it can work for you.

Who or what is rockblocker? An installer or someone who has done their own?

I've had the Colgan Full bra for the past year, but the stitches are ripping in places and I'm starting to get some scuffs from the bra.

The 'resurfacing' involved is just cleaning and degreasing... takes a few minutes, not big deal really.

There's about $25-30 worth of material and the rest is just paying the guy for his ability. I've put a thousand or more on over the years - again, no big deal really - kinda like tinting, once you learn the system and do a few hundred.... it's easy.

I've done some pretty high cars before, with some pretty big sheets of the stuff -- but I sure as hell aint never seen a kit listed for $600some dollars before. That's insane.

The autobody shop in my town is very respected. Nothing but great work from this guy. He said he tried installing this clear bra on a new Acura TL and it was a nightmare. They kept finding prints etc... when they were half way done. He told the guy who owned the acura to go to someone who is specifically trained to install.
Just telling you what I have been told. good luck man.

Hey guys,

I thought I would chime in here for a minute and help answer any questions people have.

RockBlocker - is a current vendor the Scion community

We offer paint and headlight protection film to prevent rocks, dirt, sand and other debris from damaging your high impact areas on the vehicle.

All of our kits are pre-cut and designed to fit your vehicle's surfaces with a precise fit. We use only 3M film. This product has a clear coat finish on it and can be washed and waxed as often as you would like.

While we always recommend a trained installer to do the work in some cases you might be able to do the work yourself if you really want to save a buck. We have a lot of Subaru owners doing there own installs with great success. This is not to say that you can do it, just that it might be possible. If you have any questions or concerns about self install please check this out as a starting place.

http://www.rockblocker.com/paint-howto.htm

All of our products come with a lifetime warranty against cracking, fading and/or yellowing for as long as you own the vehicle.

Here is a diagram of the xB Full Kit

These are pics of cars we did locally last week so you can see Full kits installed or can you?

Moondog xB

Here is the thread where their comments are posted and others as well.

And last but not least the current sale for xB Clear bra Kits.

If we can help with anything please let us know. We would be glad to help.

Thanks

Chad

PS. Did you say $675.00??

"HERE" being the area I live in - in real life. Not HERE as in the make believe world of SL.com and the internet
