Anyone have any ideas as where i would begin to track one of these down?

Is the only difference the license plate and liftgate release button? If so, have a bodyshop fill the plate recess and have to release button moves to a stealth location or have it remote controlled.
It'd be alot cheaper than shipping a hatch from Japan.
