Default Thanks to all...

I honestly see the point everyone has made. But when I wrote Rockblocker about price, they came back with a cost factor of around 238.00 "plus" I need to add the cost of install which I would imagine the total will be around 350.00 at the least. I cannot "afford" that. I cannot wait to save it up either due to other financial responsibilites and the fact that I am going to hit the highway very soon for some short and inexpensive roadtrips. So even if I cancel my roadtrips, it is still not going to save me the amount I need to get the Rockblocker.

So I guess I agree with "Jethros" logic for the Colgan bra. I am not lazy and would only use it when I am roadtripping on the interstate only to take it off once I reach my destination and then use it again to get home and take it off again until the next trip. I can get the Colgan for 109.00....a huge savings!

I know Rockblocker is a good product, but I have a friend with it and his hood is still "dinged" from the rocks that have hit it. Yes the paint looks great, but you can see the ding. I just dont know if he has the right film thickness or what, but I feel safer with the Colgan and it is much more affordable and I only need it for highway use.

I was refering to the edges around the lower grill openings. That was where I was getting the most rock damage. They are rather sharp corners and didn't know if the clear stuff would keep from getting air pockets due to that.

Tanitez , he said it was around $500 not $350 nor $238.
And you dont have to remove the BRA when you get some place and put it back on to go home . . YES , you need to take it off when its WET . That does NOT mean you need to pull over in the rain to take it off ... It means that when you get to back Home or destination , take it off so it and your car can dry off over night . Just always make sure there is no dirt , you can always dust it under the edge on the hood to leave it longer on DRY days . If the car gets real dirty , you would want to remove it , so the bigger granules do not rub against the paint .
Rock,
On the site you sent us to see what others are saying , the one PIC that has the Back Lighting , does not look good with that line going across . Its kind of a whitish hazy look .
You give a guaranty against fading/cracking/yellowing , But I thought the IDEA was to STOP DINGS , which a bra can do . How can 8mil STOP dings ?

And I think you guys need to give a better deal (like Free) to someone willing to let you put YOUR product on someones car , then ask them to show YOUR product , put YOUR sticker on , hand out YOUR flyers........ Thats a JOB.

The T bra looks really good on the Box . Because some of those pics at the site looked Too Big , but the xB`s fits nicely without taking over the 'Entire' hood .
I bought the SCION Carbon Fiber 1/2 Bra $40 at the dealer , but had I seen the ' T ' I might have gone that way . Pic of my Carbon Fiber 1/2 Bra is in My profile .

Default Clear Bra

I had the Clear Bra installed becuase in my commute the front of the XB would surely be chipped up by rocks. The cost was 591. I am very pleased with it so far. When I figure out how to post pics, I will post what it looks like.

There are a couple of things I do not like about the Clear ;
1) COST !
2) The clear bra says that it is Guaranteed AGAINST Flacking / Yellowing / Peeling , BUT Nowhere does it say Anything about protection from DINGS .
So just make sure you are are getting it for the right reasons .
To have the Clear Sticker LOOK Pretty
OR
NOT to Protect from Dings Happening

Yellow , you can always Post pics in your Profile .

I will say the clear bra is not for everyone and that is perfectly fine, but I thought I would express some thoughts here on the product.

1. Cost - Sure you can get taken to the cleaners if you dont shop around or know what you are talking about.

But Lets take the Colgan T-Bra above for $59.00 for example that you will need to take on and off so that is time and money. We can cover the same front end (high impact area) for just a little more than that. The Box is easy enough for most people to install the hood piece themselves. Plus you get a cleaner look overall with your vehicle IMHO.

2. Sure the material comes with a guarantee for cracking, fading and/ or yellowing and doesnt cover dings, but either does a Colgan Bra or did I miss something there?

I am sure there are tons of examples for both products where a ding happened and tons where it didnt. Plastic and leather will not stop a rock completely so lets be real about that. The purpose of a clear bra is help prevent rocks, dirt and other road debris from damaging your painted surfaces where applied just like a Colgan Bra. A long time ago I had a bra on a truck and got dings all the over the place even under the product, but I still liked it then until I found about clear bras.

The consumer gets the final choice and we are okay with that.

The only downside to the clear bra I can see is that is is on all the time whereas the Colgan can be removed with no trace that you had it on and it only takes seconds to put on and off. It also has a padding along with the vinyl for additional ding protection.

Yes you are correct that you can remove the Colgan Bra quicker, but the clear bra can be removed as well! The funny thing is we get asked that question all the time, but have never removed a kit unless someone got into a wreck and it is at the bodyshop or a customer messed up an install.

I guess THEY BOTH have their Good/Bad points
