I'm jacked too !! I got 5000 miles now, and with all the scratches I got so far, at 20,000 miles, I'll need a new paint job. And where are the scatches, door handles and rocker panels, done by fingers and feet.

We all should be in an uproar over the cheap paint.

Yes the only thing that I am disappointed with is the paint job (thinness). Hopefully this might be something that is addressed in the future. Anyone looking to buy new I would suggest install of one of those invisable bra's as an option I would have paid 200$ for it. I did own a 1981 Renault LeCar in the 80's (Im 41) that had great paint so the 14ooo car argument is a little weak.

The government does not let auto makers put what they use to in paint (lead/other stuff) therefore it is not as durable as is use to be years ago. Rocks and debris will always scratch/chip paint and this is normal.....especially if you drive on roads where it snowed during the winter. The rocks/sand/salt they put down is awesome at getting us home on a snowy night but is hell on paint/chrome/glass. The 3M invisible bra does a great job at deflecting rocks/sand. All auto manufacturers make touch up paint. I get a paper match.... cut the opposite end at an angle and use it to apply the touch up paint. I do this once a month as I live in the Midwest and yea......it doesn't look perfect but I have learned to deal with it. The paint is not thin nor would any body sho in the USA warranty paint against:
1. Rock chips/sand blasting/road debris damage
2. Damage caused by dropping a cardboard box on your body kit.
If anyone knows of a body shop much less an auto manufacturer that warranty's situations like this, let me know. I have learned to take responsibility for my actions and not always blame someone/something else when something happens to the paint on my xB
Peace

If anyone wants to stop rocks, sand, dirt and other debris from damaging your paint let us know. We would be glad to help out.

i had mine for half a year, i had no problem with the paint, i had one small tiny chip on hood.

when i drove i made sure not to tailgate the vehicle in front of me. when i traded it in with 8k miles the front end looked perfect, no rock chips or anything. maybe a lil scrapeage under the front lip, but thats just from driveways.
