The clear bra is great if you can install it yourself. I have not heard of them yellowing. I got a set for my xB and was quoted a price of $500 to install it, but the professional installer said he would not be trained and qualified for the bumper part until he went back to the factory school this Fall. So I went ahead myself, was able to install the mirrors, messed up the hood, and sold the bumper. Then I got a Colgan.

Default .....$25 on E-BAY....

E-BAY always has this pre-cut, XB sized, install yourself sheets for about $25 including 15 for shipping.(?) I did not yet try to install it.
I have a lot of wax on my XB and I don't know if I can still wax it once this stuff is installed. Do I need to remove wax to install this stuff? Anyone have any experience with the 25 Dollar E-Bay one?

I did install the clear bug deflector and that is great. It works well and can be washed with the car. 4 Fasteners fit into four existing holes (XB) under the hood.

You remove any wax from paint with alcohol (70% solution as bought at pharmacy).
Then you dilute that alcohol with equal part water (=35% solution) to wet the paint and the film for application.
Afterwards, the film needs to be kept waxed.

If you get the good stuf like 3M clear paint protection, you wont have any problems w/ yellowing. I got some material, but havn't installed it yet.

Is that 3M Paint protection Film? The 3M stuff does not yellow. I bought a kit from an on-line retailer that inluded the hood, fender corners and mirrors for $95. It came with the tools and a video.

This stuff is not easy to do yourself -- and I knew that going into it. I traced the kit onto paper so that I could replicate the templates in case I really messed up the install. The film can be purchased pretty cheaply. In fact, I know that I can buy enough material for the whole kit for $35. The extra 60 bucks is for the pieces being pre-cut to fit right.

I installed the hood part first, and if I were being graded, I would have gotten a 65%. The subsequent pieces were a lot easier to do, and I "scored" higher. At least a 95% on the rest.

I also cut my own bumper "applique." I need one cuz I load tools and off-road riding equipment, which has the habit of scratching the bumper. While I like the black bumper applique, the holes in it allow dirt to get in there and scratch the paint. So the clear one I made is invisible, and does the job.

Seems like I could make a kit out of my templates, for those that are brave enough to intall this stuff themselves.

I got it locally from Stongard/Autogard who cut the patterns, and it was installed by Autogard at their shop. At that time they were also offering a 20% discount for ScionLife members (this was, remember, a year and a half ago...).

Lemme find my purchase order, and I'll put a copy up for the details...

So cheap, in fact, that the company that performed the work is now out of business.

I don't think it will do much good, since they have been vaporized. I called a competitor of theirs located downtown Seattle, and they wanted $500 plus tax for what you had done to your car. That's why I opted to buy the small kit, and I will make my own patterns for the rest of the bumper, all of which I will install (or have installed) myself.

All locally:

And, yes, they do seem to be out of business, now, after 14 years...
