Default Clear Corners, to break reflector or oven method...

...that is the question.

I have read all the threads on these two methods and am trying to decide which route to go for myself this weekend. What does everyone who has done it think?

2-3 mins at 250 and pop them open. its so much easier than the hammer and screwdriver thing.

I used the oven thing. But, someone told me to turn the oven on, let it get up to 250, turn it off and throw the lights in real quick. that sucked because it took about 4 time a light to get em open. Idiots I tell you, carp, maybe im the idiot for listening.

so do you keep the oven on at 250 adn let them sit? It shouldnt melt right because it takes so much more to melt them right?

These are the questions that make me lean away from the oven method. That and breaking the seal.

Break the reflector, its not that difficult. Either do one of two things to get out the remainder piece stuck in the housing. Either get some needle nose pliers with a 90 degree angle on them so you can grab the piece that gets stuck in their or drill a hole behind the rectangular holes and then push it out. If you need further info on how to do this let me know.

let it chill for about 2-2.5 mins. then pull them out. no longer than 3!

I just hate the fact that the front bumper needs to come off. Is there a way around this?

Did the break it method it. After looking over how you do it, I was thinking it was going to take the 2 hours like the right up on SL says. I did it in under a hour. The biggest PITA is, I droped the 10mm socket in the engine bay & spent 10 min looking for it. I also lost 1 of the head light mounting bolts the same way & still have not found it

i would say just break it. both sides can be done in less than an hr, including remove and install. It's not worth the chances of having the lights leak from a bad seal. but then again, if you don't know what your doing with any install it will go bad anyways.

I just reused the factory glue, I heated up both sides in the oven and squeezed til I pop a vein.

Do the break method. Very easy. Takes no longer than 30 minutes for everything.
