Default Converting fogs to amber DRL

I searched and didn't find any info on this.

I have owned several GM vehicles with the bright amber DRLs. I have been trying to think of a way to set something like this up on an xB. I don't have fogs on my xB, so I can't check this out for myself.

What I would like to do is disassemble the light housing and somehow make the inside of the lense amber, or swap sockets and use an amber 1157. Then wire up the fogs so they will come on when the car is started or with a switch.

I guess my questions are:
Do the foglight housings come apart?
Is there anything I could use on the inside of the lense that would not fade or melt from the heat of the 9003 bulbs?
If the bulb may be too hot, how hard would it be to wire in an 1157 and rig it so the brighter filament is always on?

Any wiring or lighting gurus out there?

well, the housings do not come apart.

what about an amber overlay?
wiring the fogs to a switch, or power from another source is the easy part.

I had hoped to do it so they would appear more white when the lights were off, but an overlay would work as well.

I have the Headlight Armor blue overlays on my headlights. Anyone know if there is anything like that available for the fogs in a dark amber?

If you want to run 1157 bulbs get a pair of Toyota 4Runner bumper lights.
You can get cheap ones on E-Bay for about $30 or less shipped.
Not a perfect fit but they dont look out of place either.
I cant remember what year will work but someone here should know( I think the ones I had for awhile were from a 199

You can get yellow 9006 bulbs on line. They will attach to the cable connectors, no problem!

I have amber Overlays for the fogs . If you want darker you can also get my light 3.10 smoke tint and place it over the amber overlay
