Cracked Windshield
The PPG seems just a bit better, the Fuyao seems a lot better. The Fuyao's seem a bit thicker and tougher, the PPGs just seem a bit tougher.
(That's just opinion from having both.)

PPG is american, and 9 times out of 10 the windshield you get in the vehicle when you buy it, has been replaced, I can't count how many windshields I saw the glass guy at work replace in a week because of transport damage, since all but porsches and high dollar cars, are carried on open trailered trucks and open car trains, the windshields get chipped and cracked regularly
Those of us lucky enough to live very near the ports of entry for these vehicles don't often run into that problem. Ours still have original glass when delivered to us, James.

yea, I'm a long way away from the ports, funny thing is, I saw an xb that the owners dropped a big tree on (they were having a very old tree, that had been hit by lightning cut down) that landed dead center in the roof, caved it in, required new roof, door tops, rear hatch, hood, and all the roof structure, but amazingly the windshield was intact, until one of the guys that mows the grass at the lot slung a rock at it, chipped then cracked the windshield out

You guys aren't having any good luck...
I had huge piece of brick fell off a construction truck on a busy highway. Both doing 60 and directly hits my driver side of the windshield. To this day, there's no chip or crack

i parked my car last night in front of my house and i am pretty sure that there was no crack on the windshield. when i woke up this morning i went to my car and there was crack coming down from the top about 5 inches then swerving to the driver's side 5 inches.
gonna take it to hte dealer today see what they say

I'm at 34,000 miles and I'm on the original windshield, however I did just have a lovely gravel truck that "was not responsible for objects thrown from road" put my first VERY large chip in it. On I-75 in Atl, seems common, when I got to the office I called my insurace company and had them remove the deductible on my comprehensive policy so if and when it does crack I'm covered and won't cost me a ton of money out of pocket. The premium difference was only $4 per month. I don't think the truck was responsible, he did caution me to stay back 100 feet

State Farm here too, and dropping comprehensive liability to zero didn't cost much. Didn't when I was with 21st century, either. I figure the chances of _something_ happening is high enough and I don't want to pay out of pocket if it's something I could avoid, like a rock flying at me or someone breaking in.
I made it over a year before my windshield cracked. No sign of anything hitting it, it just started cracking at the top right in the middle and started spreading down so I got it replaced. No sense in messing around with something like that.
Safelite replaced it and it started leaking a week later. They redid it, this time with a Toyota seal, and it's been fine since. That was a good 10 months ago. They charged me $475, which was about twice what I was expecting. That might have been their "screw the insurance company" price, though. If you have to pay yourself you might get a better deal.

After my oil was changed, he said he had another windshield on order for me. They replaced my windshield the following week....FREE OF CHARGE!!! It would have set me back $572 dollars if I had to pay for it.
I just asked nicely and if they wouldn't fix it, oh well. It sure didn't hurt to ask. Mine cracked overnight in the garage from the windshield molding and formed a slight "L". I know it wasn't from a rock. IF my windshield had a chip or some type of impact mark, then I would have to suck up and pay for it myself, no matter how much that would have sucked. Anyways, my dealership took great care of me and I appreciate that.

Thats so weird, I had the exact same thing happen yester day. My box has less than 1000 mi. on it, and no chips, dents, cracks,or pits I was just making a right turn, and there it was, a crack, starting in the middle of the windsheild, from behind the rear view mirror, going down about 5" then making a turn to the passenger side. There must be some sort of design flaw, I know Porsche had a problam with this about 6 years ago, and it was dertermined to be structural flex in the windsheild frame. I tried talking to the dealer, but I dont speek a#@@hole, so I am going to pay out of pocket and doccument any other problams.

That's EXACTLY where my crack was. Right in the center, going down, then swerving to the driver side. No sign of trauma.
I had a zero deductable on my comprehensive so I just used that, but if I had to pay out of pocket I'd raise a fit at a few local dealer service departments.

I ride my Gsxr full time from spring to fall and after riding my motorcycle ONE day in town, freeway, or highway I have yet to pull up behind a Dump truck, semi truck, or any truck however.
You would be suprised at how many rocks and depris are just in the air right behind a truck.
