Default Custom Tow Hooks?

Do you have a custom tow hook? Throw up some pics if you do.

Gorgeous!! Where on earth did you find that?! I can't even locate additionals for the OEM tow hook.

It looks great! Did you have to custom adapt it?

It is sold as aftermarket ring for BMW. I basically used half of stock Scion tow ring and a half of the BMW and screwed them together (had a machine shop drill and tap the Scion half for the stud)

The more I see that pic the more I like the look of that hook. A bit involved for my tastes, however. =p It would look out of place next to my trim-ring fake rims. ;)

A question...based on the smaller shaft holding them together...do you think it is still up to specs? I ask because in the three years I have owned my personal xB, I have actually used the tow hook on two occasions! (I was stuck in snow in one case and deep mud in the other.) Both of them were freak accidents, but I'm curious about your thoughts on the integrity of a half-size, three-part modified hook as used for extraction-towing a car.

Strenght-wise i dont see how it can be less durable than when it was sold (I am talking about the e-bay one and dont know what kind of tensile strenght they promise). I used Grade 8 stud, to connect 2 parts together. The whole assembly is def not as bulletproof as Scion stock tow hook. I did it just because i wanted to experiment a bit with the look.

If you're worried about the cover plates..just mark out the holes and cut them..that's what I did.

i used a propane torch to heat up a hole drill the did a quick melt through
and the back will not be center because it just not center when you put the stock tow hook in
