Default Splash Guards

Not sure if this is the right area for this thread.....

Anyway, for someone who doesn't have their splash guards on -- is there some kind of fabrication that can be done to prevent rain water going through my short ram intake? Or am I better off finding a used splash guard?
Last week during the heavy rains, the engine was making funny noises that I had never heard before. It only happened for a couple seconds every now and then, but it was obvious it was from the rain. I checked my filter and sure enough it was wet.
My splash guards were damaged from dragging on the ground after tearing around the screw points. I just threw them away. It hardly rains here at all, but when it does....it DOES!

The short ram is way up by the throttle body, you don't need to worry about water getting up there unless your xb goes down under

Well I actually checked the filter, and there was water dripping off of it. The engine only makes noises every-now-and-then while I'm driving. I'm positive that some water is getting kicked up and hitting the filter. As soon as it stopped raining, weird engine noise was gone completely.

I think your better off finding a used splash guard.
Shouldn't be too much, find one in a junkyard, should be like $40 at most, and I wouldn't even think that.

I'm sure you could buy some Coroplast and fab up something to protect your intake completely if you can't find a junker to steal the part from.

Cant say on the xb, but for my tc, a good section of the splash guard got ripped off when i hit a bump. To fix it, i doubled up some duct tape on a piece of laminate plastic, punched a hole in it and bolted it up. It worked beautifully.

i have the splash guards and a dri sock from jegs and my filter still gets wet i wouldn't worry about it moister will get in there but it can handle that, it cant handle water and you will not get water in there unless submerged
