Default Help with Low Beam issues!

Scion 2005 xB (First Gen)

Hi
My low beams have not worked the last two weeks. My high beams do though. So far we've switched out the H/L switch and that did nothing. Now we're going to try the headlight relay.
I've now figured out where it's at. Fuse box on the left hand side, second one down. The access hole is pretty small and with it being on the left hand side, you can barely see in there.

My question is how do I unplug it?? Does the dash need to be removed?

I've had two guys look at it plus myself and we aren't figuring this out. I'm desperate and wanting to avoid paying a mechanic.
Feel free to also directly message me.

I take it the bulbs are OK and the wiring to them has not been chewed thru?
The relay is a box like thing and it should pull straight away from the base - I don't have access to the xB right now, so not much help.
Can you post a picture?

I have a manual that says:

For one bulb out - check the bulb, then check the H-LP LH/H-LP LO RH fuse. (Even if both low beams are out, it's still worth checking this fuse.)

For both bulbs out - check the high/ low switch, then the harness(es).

As for your headlight relay question, the sketch doesn't indicate whether it's a plug-in type or screwed to the fuse box. If you don't see a screw or a cable attached to it, I'd assume it's plug n play.
Either way, the manual recommends disconnecting the negative battery terminal, then wait 90 seconds before unplugging the relay. The symptom table doesn't mention the headlight relay so there's no hint there.

Don't know the odds are of both bulbs being bad but you can test continuity with a voltage meter. Good luck with the repair.

I agree 100% with the above post. Start with the easiest (and least expensive) thing first - the bulbs.

Did you ever find a solution to this? I was able to get the fuse out on mine and that didn't seem to be the issue.

Remove bulbs and test them.
Also measure voltage at bulb sockets.

Easiest tests, do these 1st.
