Hood Scoop on an XB anyone?
I second the fiberglass hoods. You can get one of them, then paint it (if you don't want the C/F look) for about the same cost as the Subaru/xB combination, and save a ton of work and weight.

This customizing stuff can rack up the $$$ fast lol.
i saw one on ebay about a month ago from a totaled sti in arizona.. (crap, i can't find it anymore). just the scoop was going for under $80 at last bid if i remember correctly..
you could also try surfing the impreza forums.. http://www.i-club.com/forums/?
If you test drove an xB and it shook...that is one you DONT buy! Im telling you both my husband and I do a hundred sometimes in the open desert and there is NO problem. Im not sure what its called, but, I had an Astro and once it hit a hundred it went right back to like 70 or 80, not the box! My husband has done 115 in mine with NO problem.
Now onto my other thought...JMO!
Scoops are for race cars.

I'm toying with the idea of putting on a hood scoop, but am running into some problems. I've checked with two different shops, and they both are recommending against having one put on that's functional. Their reasoning is, even if it was 'glassed onto the hood, the incoming air would eventually cause the 'glass to crack and separate. Wouldn't be a problem if it was non-functional, but then what's the point in doing that?!
I liked that one weblink to the fiberglass hood with the hood scoop, but don't want to relocate the washer nozzles. Also, I'd have to cut out the bottom to make it functional.
Oh well, maybe I'll just spend the money on a Thunderheader or Bassani exhaust for my Sportster...lol...!

I see someone else has been thinking about putting an STI scoop on an xB...(socalxb).
I'm still not sure if I will do it...not even sure if I will buy an xB at this point either. I drove a turbo charged Chrysler PT Cruiser today and I asked the salesman if the PT Cruiser can be ordered with a HEMI engine
His reaction was priceless indeed!
Then I got a crazy idea....how bout swapping the 220hp turbo charged 2.4L engine and transaxle out of a PT Cruiser GT, and put it in a Scion xB...just maybe need an oversized front clip installed on the xB
Then again, why not just get a PT GT...
Those pesky gas prices just might convince me to buy an xB in the long run, so we'll see.

Yeah, it's probably best to just accept the xB for what it is, a unique, spacious, fuel efficient, nice handling, easy to drive and park, econobox (pun intended).
Although they do make turbos and s/c kits for these things, I think the only way to get some serious hp (read over 200hp) is an engine/trans swap. And since these cars are so inexpensive to start with, save your money and get a fast car or bike to satisfy that "need for speed". If you test drove a PT Cruiser turbo, treat yourself to a test ride in an SRT-4. I had one before I got my xB, and that's one FAST, inexpensive car...
